Best cell phone carrier
The Frustration Times | 2/23/19 | Self

We've been with Verizon for years and have suffered with broken texts, missed calls, spotty notifications, and updates that don't. We are thinking about going with US Cellular. How about sharing experiences to help us out.

Go here and post a question to the others that live up there.
They man can give you some info. Not a real active board
but someone may read and respond.

I have a Samsung flip phone with Pure Talk for $5 a month. I don’t use it much. Not sure how many minutes it gives me.

I like US Cellular. Switched to them after ditching landline last year.

We get a military discount with them because of my husband’s service.

PS- US Cellular gave us an iPhone that has a hotspot that can be turned on/off as needed (costs nothing extra to use).

We were able to cancel our Verizon Wireless service ( the hotspot will run our desktop and iPad) saving us a minimum of $60 a month, which just about pays for the US Cellular phone.

We hated Verizon Wireless internet service- expensive.

Rural Klamath County here. USCellular is the only one with reliable service out here.
Good to deal with. Also no loss of service when traveling.

Verizon has the best signal, worst customer service. Sprint has a plan for $25 a month unlimited if you port over an phone number, bring your own phone and set up for automatic
payment.

Springs signal is okay, not great. But most calls are junk calls so I don’t need phone much any more.

I use T-Mobile. 2 lines, $60 even a month.
Unlimited everything. No issue of bad reception except inside my office building. 25% of the building I get reception. I live in the San Fernando valley, Calif.

I use Cricket Mobile which is a subsidiary of AT&T. I haven’t had any problems. I pay $90 a month for 3 lines unlimited everything. I use 2 and gave the 3rd line to my mother. You have to buy a phone but you can get a good phone for $80-$100. ( Samsung, LG, Motorola) If you port a number than the deals on phones are even better.

Your quality of service really depends on where you will be using the phone, some providers are better than others in various locations.

I pay AT&T $56 a month for unlimited. Call them and tell them that you have a friend who has a really low rate. That’s how I got a lower rate as my original was supposed to be $110 a month.

I used to live in Montana and cell phone reception and coverage was terrible there in except for Verizon. Verizon has the best nationwide coverage if you care about that. I like Verizon.

AT&T sells me 4G service - and a 4G icon appears on my phone every single time I see a unicorn. And I am not in a rural area.

Twice in the past year we’ve had AT& T internet go down, due to issues with a tower. The first time was for over an hour.

Yesterday, for about 18 hours, no data, no text, no phone.

Verizon has the customer service from hell.

I don’t care if they are free. I wouldn’t deal with them EVER AGAIN.

I’ve used them twice, each time, I ended up losing tons of money I never owed them simply to get them off my back. They are HORRIBLE. They’ve cut off my service when they were paid, and still taken money for turning it back on. They’ve reported me to collection agencies when I left even though there was no balance.

That’s just TWO problems of many.

Not to mention they installed their lines over my palm tree roots so it can’t be removed. That’s just a personal vendetta I have.

Made the switch from Verizon to U.S. Cellular about 18 months ago, and very pleased.

New iPhone for free, military discount, unlimited everything, unneeded data rebate every month, great service and friendly people.

Have heard their referral rebate is now up to $100 to both the referring party and the party changing service to U.S. Cellular. Wait, if you can, until one of their free phone promos comes up and make the switch then.

Good luck.

Switched from CSpire (Mississippi based company) to ATT almost a year ago and haven’t had any problems since...wife and I have unlimited calling/text but only 6G shared data for $90 a month total (wife uses hers a lot and I only use data when WiFi is around and we haven’t gone over - plus if we do go over there is no charge as they “may slow down our pipeline when we are in an overage condition”. With ATT Uverse (or DirecTV) one can also stream any TV station without it counting against data.

I’m in Grants Pass and have had US Cell for many years and I love it.

They’ve got towers everywhere and many times when friends on ATT, et al have no cell service I have service on my iPhone.

You live in Klamath County?

Cool...I’ve always liked K Falls and that area.

I live in JoCo.
