That’s a fact. It just hasn’t gone hot. Yet.
“This isn’t going to end well.”
Nope. Civil wars are the ugliest of things.
Civil war does not necessarily equate to secession. In fact, most of the civil wars in history had nothing to do with secession.
Deutsch might be called the Anthony Bourdain of advertising and whorishness, only with fewer skills and lower standards.
I do that pretty regularly.
This is not how wars happen, nor is this a telling observation.
I bet you could say the same about the common people on both sides of any war. What were the differences between the common German and the common Frenchman in 1939? They had about the same fears and desires and obligations. The German was no monster who thirsted for French blood, and if asked would have said he was against a war. And so on, in just about every case.
Wars happen when an activist minority starts one. Then the opposing activist minority reacts.
Poor people dont start civil wars. They can be tools for others, but they dont start them.
And all civil wars are started by an activist minority.
Its the same scenario over and over - start violence, provoke a reaction, wave the bloody shirt, radicalize more people, do something else, provoke worse reactions, until you get a real war, a real revolution.
