When I was homeported in Yokosuka Japan 1960-62, we didn’t pay for the ‘homeport honey’ BUT ‘helped’ her in other ways like rent, food tips at work...Unique situation when one went to sea she had OTHER benefactors so money wasn’t a real ‘problem’ with #1 squeeze.
Rules were SHE could ‘earn money’ while at work which was socializing but she normally wouldn’t date when ‘you’ were around BUT if talking to another employee you best not sit to close or buy drink for...
Strange ‘rules’ but it worked.

And the old Navy standard - ‘A girl in every port’ was alive and well...

Oh to be young etc etc etc....

Mandatory profilactic distribution to preclude the “Silver Bullet” and damage to crew effectiveness.

I’d be in negative ranks, Leavenworth, or life in prison if I were to be in the military today and did what I did 45 years ago.

In 1973 my submarine’s XO told us, as we were about to embark on liberty in Haiti and then again in Jamaica, exactly where not to go... down to the street address and then repeated the street address several times.

P.S. But that was before they put women on ships.

Today’s sailors are supposed to go on cultural tours, or participate in volleyball tournaments sponsored by the Navy. They should also carefully avoid alcohol unless an appropriate amount of food is also served.

If you can’t party, you can’t fight. A Navy or Marine Corps appropriate for women, and approved of by America’s mommies can’t fight worth a damn. It’s a natural fact.

He’s an O-5. In the Navy O-5 and O-6 are senior officers.

There’s a politically incorrect saying that a soldier that won’t f@@@ won’t fight. I would expect that to also apply to sailors.

I don’t think the punishment of demoting him was appropriate.

Hopefully the skunk who squealed will be identified and dealt with appropriately by the other sailors.......

Painting orphanages for volunteer hours on your eval is also authorized. Your post nailed it from top to bottom. It is a snowflake's navy today. The thought of having sex with a hooker would bring a Millennial sailor to tears. "Those girls were kidnapped! Forced into servitude! It's the same as rape! I watched a video about it! Let's go hang out at the mall where there's Wi-Fi and McDonald's and later go paint an orphanage. I don't want to get in any trouble."

I see the term “demoted” but I don’t see anything that actually says he was reduced in rank. He was relieved of command and reassigned to a staff job. As I think about it I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an officer reduced in rank, just offered the choice to resign. He’s got 20 in so he might as well hang it up - he will never be a 4-striper of have any other command.

Looks like making a public spectacle with multiple hookers might have been over the line. Just hiring a hooker wouldn’t seem such a big deal. Female Naval personnel involved as witnesses or prosecutors?
