On election day a poll monitor in a Los Angeles precinct blocked army veteran John Reader from voting because of the symbol of hatred on his shirt. The symbol: a US flag.
I thought displaying the flag was a general expression of patriotism, you know for our country, Reader said. Hows that a hate symbol?
The poll monitor who would only give his first name (Bill) asserted that someone so ignorant as to not know that the American flag is a symbol imperialism, oppression, and hatred shouldnt be voting in our elections. Generous person that I am, though, I offered to let him vote if he turned his shirt inside out, but he refused.
Reader was eventually allowed to vote after a 90 minute delay when the county registrar intervened. Bill will be required to undergo retraining before he is allowed to work in future elections.

I’m confused, is the satire that the veteran was allowed to vote?
I’ve posted this before...
Sorry you are wrong a person may wear whatever clothing they want to a polling place.
In a largely expected decision, the Supreme Court recently ruled that the government cannot restrict a persons clothing choices while they are voting. This means the MAGA hats and hats that say ICE can be worn at a polling place. Wearing a hat that has the words ICE on it is NOT a crime, who says that this person is a Federal Law Officer.
The ruling came down 7-2, and perhaps the margin was a bit of a surprise, but the First Amendment arguments made by the majority are not. Its entirely consistent with majoritarian First Amendment views that white people can harass and intimidate black people especially black people who dare to try to vote in a myriad of ways as long as they dont get physical. Freedom! As long as the whites dont actually throw the banana at a black person while they are filling out their ballot, well, this Court would allow whites to brandish their potassium-rich snacks in any way they like.
