The real reason behind the dispute is Turkey’s move toward the Eastern powers (Russia and China) over the past few years.

The real reason is that Turkey is going Islam crazy.

Erdogan wants to install himself in the Sultan’s palace, but I think “Kurdistan” has a nice ring to it.

Regardless of the current state of affairs (reasons), I’m still really pissed that they did not let the 4th ID through to North Iraq during the 1st Gulf War, and what they have done to the Kurds.

Hopefully, I will never have to visit Turkey again.

The author of this piece yammers about "dollar hegemony." Without a fixed exchange rate, no one will use gold as a means of trade because its price is too volatile.

Yuan or gold backed bonds are like COMECON barter deals, a farcical replica of the dollar dominated global trading system.

Having lived in Turkey when I was younger; it’s important to note the leadership/government/military of Turkey is not representative of the average person in Turkey just like when the muslim-loving obama was giving away the farm to our Islamic enemies was not representative of us. Most people, especially in the cities where the people are educated, are comfortable with Western style and values unless that has changed since I was there.

I see the Iranian people are protesting and are generally fed up with the Mullahs leading the country under Islamic principles. I hope the same thing happens in Turkey and they overthrow the corrupt Erdogan regime. Time will tell I guess.

Islam is the problem; never the solution.

The reason is Turkey is holding an American hostage:

Trump asks jailed pastor to be "patriot hostage" as U.S.-Turkey feud escalates

Turkey and the United States exchanged new threats of sanctions Friday, keeping alive a diplomatic and financial crisis that is threatening the economic stability of the NATO country as a Turkish court rejected the appeal of an American pastor caught in the middle of the row. Turkey's lira fell once again after the trade minister, Ruhsar Pekcan, said Friday that her government would respond to any new trade duties, which U.S. President Trump threatened in an overnight tweet.

Mr. Trump is taking issue with the continued detention in Turkey of Andrew Brunson, an American evangelical pastor who faces 35 years in prison on charges of espionage and terrorism. Before leaving the White House on Friday, Mr. Trump warned that "we are not going to take it sitting down." He also called the spying charge against Brunson "phony" and denounced Turkey as a "problem for a long time."

He said Turkey has "not acted like a friend" and demanded Brunson's release, saying "they can't take our people."

We're still in NATO with Turkey. What happens if Turkey asks NATO to help it fight frisky Kurds or to do battle in Syrian sovereign territory that Turkey wants for its own?

NATO should be abolished. Once the Berlin Wall fell, Europe should've been on its own.
