Having lived in Turkey when I was younger; it’s important to note the leadership/government/military of Turkey is not representative of the average person in Turkey just like when the muslim-loving obama was giving away the farm to our Islamic enemies was not representative of us. Most people, especially in the cities where the people are educated, are comfortable with Western style and values unless that has changed since I was there.

I see the Iranian people are protesting and are generally fed up with the Mullahs leading the country under Islamic principles. I hope the same thing happens in Turkey and they overthrow the corrupt Erdogan regime. Time will tell I guess.

Islam is the problem; never the solution.

How is it then that Erdogan got 52% in the last election?

It's been 20 years since I taught in Turkey, but what you say was true back then, too. Th a Turks actually have very little say in their government. The military run the show. They don't really care much about the average Turk.
