I want to urge legislative consideration to the amending of our current civil rights legislation to include non discrimination against one's political opinion. I began this analyses after Black supporters of our elected president wearing MAGA hats were put out by a low life Uber driver in New York City , but of far greater concern are alt-leftists companies like Facebook and Twitter purging conservative posters in the stream of public accommodation and commerce. ( today causing a 25% collapse of Facebook Stock value.) We learned from the Supreme Court case Marsh vs. Alabama ( URL above) the following analyses excerpted from the the wikipedia discussion cited below : "Facebook Is Censoring Science and Journalism". nationalreview.com. 31 August 2016. Laws in California and New Jersey appear to agree. According to the First Amendment Center, both states consider shopping malls as the equivalent of public spaces when it comes to free-speech rights. The legal reasoning is ultimately rooted in the Supreme Courts decision in 1946 in Marsh v. Alabama, which essentially held that a private space that is open to the public must uphold public rights. We believe that this is an apt and appropriate description of Facebook. With roughly 1.6 billion users, Facebook is the largest public space on earth."
Political affiliation is a protected category in at least some states, starting with California.
What we need is a declare civil right with big teeth.
Yeah, because we want a lot of Leftists on FR...
It's another thing when it comes to government run/funded entities.
We get FR. And I guess they get YouTube, Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter, Reddit, Vox, Business Insider, DU, DailyKos, and on and on and on and on.
I guess you didn’t read “Art of the Deal”.
While I sympathize with this, I must oppose it as this would give every employee another basis to sue employers based upon bogus claims. These bogus claims cost employers money, and enrich lawyers.
If you don’t like the politics of your business owner or vice versa, work for someone else.
that is wrong. I am talking free speech in commerce, In emp0loyment , you have employment at will. totally separated. Easily excepted inn our new civil rights law.
Your political belief is an absolute civil right or we are doomed.
Reading Comprehension Time: If you present yourself as politically neutral (Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter, etc.), then shadow ban (read today’s article of people they are shadow banning — not just extremists, but conservative congressmen, spokesmen for Trump, etc.). The general public does not know it is being presented a one sided political view on these sites.
That’s different than FR, DailyKos, etc. that are upfront about their political leaning. Those sites above have humongous traffic, and this is very serious.
Thanks. I am not excusing trolling or bots. I am condemning exclusion from commerce Any discrimination based on political beliefs. It is outrageous to exclude public accommodations in the stream of commerce from access to a product or service based on Any political belief or race.. This is basic civil rights 101.
There is only one way to win the streets.
It’s not whining about your “rights”.
What , pray tell, is that one way? Be very specific .
You mean you want me to be required to hire an outspoken liberal? No go. And I would not want to work for one, either.
Like with homosexuals, it should be "Don't ask, don't tell". I don't need to know.
Your political belief is an absolute civil right or we are doomed.
If we are allowed to vote our minds we should be allowed to live freely no matter our views. If the view is not breaking the law, such as pro-Pedo, then we should be able to be in the public square unmolested.
Why can a chador-wearing Muslim walk up the street with no harm down to her, why can two kissing gay men enjoy the same rights, when if I wore my MAGA hat on Wilshire Blvd , Id be spit at and possibly harmed? How is that any different?
We already have civil rights for all races and creeds and other groups. I think lefties and righties should be a part of that.
well stated. I note that the president just tweeted “ Twitter SHADOW BANNING ...Republicans. Not Good.We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once.” Thank you Mr, President.
I never tire of seeing that.
