In the US, we are taught an extremely limited view of the history of slavery. This narrow and uninformed view has slavery beginning in 1619 (when slaves first arrived in North American) and ending when slavery was abolished in the US in 1865. People that dont look beyond the indoctrination think that slavery is inherently racial and limited to the Americas. However, the truth about slavery is much, much more complicated. Below are five important things you may not know about slavery.
Slavery Started At The Beginning Of Civilization
Some historians believe slavery started in the 18th century B.C., about 20,000 years ago. According to Jared Diamonds book Guns, Germs and Steel, slavery was the result of advancing societies needing to fill menial job positions. Newly discovered agriculture practices allowed early elites to focus on skilled labor and tinkering, but they still needed people to work the hard labor jobs. Because of their lack of what we now consider civility, they filled those positions with slaves. Most of their slaves came from weaker societies that they had conquered.

1. Islam still practices slavery
“Whites were enslaved by Africans”...
To be more clear, they were enslaved by muslims, as were black africans. Chattel slavery continues to be a muslim thing predominately.
And it was ended by Christians.
There is also a humane aspect to slavery. What do you do with the people you capture in war? Do you kill them or make them slaves? Slavery is the more humane choice.

Slavery predates civilization. In fact slavery predates humans. Ants raid the nests of other ants and take slaves.
There are even ant slave rebellions.
It was the rule, not the exception, in most societies and still is in less developed cultures.
Slavery and piracy have a long association. St. Patrick was seized as a youth and enslaved. He escaped. I suspect most didn’t.
The Left does not care about real slavery that they can do something about. It does not advance their agenda.
Being mentally enslaved to the leftist narrative that the United States was uniquely and solely culpable for enslaving black people out of racism serves their cause, of undermining the foundation of this country and destroying any respect for our Founders.
If you only knew these things, you wouldn’t be so smug. /s
In the days of Atilla and the Great Kahn, slavery was how they let conquered peoples off lightly. Read about the fate of Thebes and Carthage.
I come from a conquered and enslaved people. The Saxons, the Danes and finally those barbaric Normans. I want reparations. In beer would be acceptable.
I have a few Cherokee ancestors. They enslaved members of other tribes captured in battle, white people and black people. They were also enslaved themselves.
I think I’m about a wash in the reparations jackpot competition. I’m an oppressor but I’m oppressed, they cancel each other out.
The word “slave” derives from the word “Slav” were most of the Greek and Roman slaves originated - and they were shockingly WHITE, of all things, heavens to Betsy ...
The only thing I need to know about slavery is that, today, owning another person is just about the greatest wrong a human being can do. I dont care why it was justified in the past. I dont care who still does it.
It is wrong.
Abortion is the greatest wrong. Slavery comes second.
