Jordan Peterson: The fatal flaw in leftist American politics
Big Think via YouTube ^ | April 12, 2018 | Dr. Jordan Peterson

"What is political extremism? Professor of psychology Jordan Peterson points out that America knows what right-wing radicalism looks like: The doctrine of racial superiority is where conservatives have drawn the line. "What’s interesting is that on the conservative side of the spectrum we’ve figured out how to box-in the radicals and say, 'No, you’re outside the domain of acceptable opinion,'" says Peterson. But where's that line for the Left? There is no universal marker of what extreme liberalism looks like, which is devastating to the ideology itself but also to political discourse as a whole....

"....Fortunately, Peterson is happy to suggest such a marker: "The doctrine of equality of outcome. It seems to me that that’s where people who are thoughtful on the Left should draw the line, and say no. Equality of opportunity? [That's] not only fair enough, but laudable. But equality of outcome…? It’s like: 'No, you’ve crossed the line. We’re not going there with you.'" Peterson argues that it's the ethical responsibility of left-leaning people to identify liberal extremism and distinguish themselves from it the same way conservatives distance themselves from the doctrine of racial superiority. Failing to recognize such extremism may be liberalism's fatal flaw."

Interesting suggestion, based on the symmetry - one extreme does not admit the possibility of equal outcome (due to their rigid belief in immutable differences between races/classes of people), while the other extreme does not admit the possibility of different outcome (due to their rigid belief that all individuals and cultures have equal abilities and desires).

I don’t always agree with everything Jordan Peterson says, but he is such a fascinating guy I have utmost respect for him.

Even when he says things I don’t agree with, I feel like I’ve learned something every time I listen to him. I always appreciate the new perspective he always adds to issues.

Voters who would fall for the lure of “equal outcomes” are made so bovine stupid (thanks to decades of Public Education and Academia) that they have no clue how such an equal outcome translates, in practice.

These voters are either outright communists or so ignorant they couldn’t find RUSSIA on a map and may think Marx is a crayon brand.

Same here. I at least feel he’s being intellectually honest when he’s making an argument. And man, can he back up an argument. I never get the sense he has a death grip on ideology and forces an argument from that fixed position. I hold him in high regard.

And man, can he back up an argument.

People who try to argue with him are like someone trying to hold back an avalanche.

I think the Demonrats inability to wall off their extremists is due to many factors. One of them is the incestuous relationship between the MSM/DNC whereby the MSM will NOT report anything bad about Demonrat actions. Being Leftists, they also see themselves as perpetual victims and try to be all things to all people in order to garner the most votes possible.

Peterson’s logic re equality of outcome is wasted on leftards - they so lack the ability to understand this simple idea because their ability to think has been drummed out of them.

They hear this and get instantly triggered.
