Politicians can pass legislation to ban manufacturing of specific weapon. No confiscation of existing weapon. Public stays calm. Politicians pass legislation to confiscate specific weapon. Some (sheeple) comply. Months later, letters are sent to gun owners requesting compliance. Some comply. Months later, letters threatening fines are sent. Some comply. Months later, warrants are issued and your traffic violation results in a jail cell to which turning in your gun eliminates the fines and jail time. Some comply.
By slowly and discreetly draining individuals financially and emotionally for compliance.....boiling the frog.
"...Listening to all of you makes me sick.
If you believe already it will happen, then we know what side you are really on..."
I can see this boil the frog approach working to disarm everyone but I could also foresee a reverse boil the frog scenario. The government sends letters and some annonymous source publishes the home address of judges and cops. Maybe their kids names and where they go to school. Things can be made very uncomfortable for the apparatchiks of the police state too. So uncomfortable that the costs of force protection become a real problem.
Educate the public.
Ask the question: Why does the EPA, IRS, BLM, FEMA, BATFE, FBI, Secret Service, Treasury dept, Your State Police, Your Local Police and yes even some university Police ALL HAVE MACHINE GUNS? Why are dozens of non military government agencies and nearly every local police department allowed to possess machine guns but the American people are banned from possessing them? What law enforcement function requires the use of a full auto weapon? The fact is non military federal agencies and local police have tens of thousands of machine guns, grenade launchers, and 50 cal. weapons in their inventories. We need to show the American people how crazily heavily armed our federal government and local police truly are.
Then ask why do we allow our government agencies and civilian police to be so heavily armed and yet we are comprehensively restricted? The Second Amendment simply does not allow for this imbalance of power. We are to be armed as our government is armed.
These people should be soiling their shorts at the sight of thousands or even millions of armed protesters simply putting forth a show of deterrence. What else are we going to do, vote Republican?? I may sound like a raving nut but, I look for solutions, it always seems like we just wring are hands and boil away to me. It's worthless and ineffective and conserves nothing of freedom.
The same thing is happening with “Smart Meters”. Read on the internet about the resistance to smart meters by individuals, towns and communities. We are being cooked slowly.
People are resisting because they are not being given a voice to protest their installation. That is exactly what happened in PA. It was imposed by the state government.
Rather than go into the illegalities of this top down power imposition, let’s talk about why smart meters aren’t a good idea. They are a fire hazard and the UL has not approved the one kind we have to pay for in PA. It is an Intron product and called Centron.
On the 12th of March Penelect informed us the State of PA had mandated each and every home with electricity will have a Smart Meter. By the the 22nd they informed us our electricity would be turned off in 10 days if we didn’t comply and get the Smart Meter.
We have asked Penelect three times to supply us with the model number and name and they have refused.
You should also be aware that electrical signals and messages go both ways with the SMart Meter and it can be set up to measure and record anything Penelect wants to record...including telephone calls...or so we understand.
I think we should buy a generator.
I agree with you; however, off-book purchases (possible now) make tracing said owners nearly impossible.
Only turning citizens on one another (hmmm... wasn’t that the Nazi approach???) can work for off-book purchases.
This analogy was made many years ago in Unintended Consequences.
Yummy...
Frog Legs!
I think one could come up with a system that uses batteries like solar. You have a bank of batts that charge directly and consistently off the grip power. Your home runs behind the battery bank so the smart meter would get no useful information whatsoever. The meter would see only a steady flow of power charging the batteries and it could not be seen when or how you actually use that power. This system also would provide a nice backup for when the grid power goes down as your batts would be charged all the time.
Perfect example of boil the frog gun grab happening in Deerfield Ill, daily fines $250-$1000 for noncompliance after June 13.
Deerfield bans assault weapons and high capacity magazines

Hitler did the same thing to the Jews. When he took power, he didn’t immediately haul them off to be killed. He squeezed them slowly. Certain (but not all) professions were closed to them. Ownership of cars. Riding in cars. Using public transportation. Owning/using a bike. Carrying suitcases. When any sort of escape was impossible, then they could be herded up and sent to the camps.
(I am aware that to the east, it was much quicker and brutal, but in Western Europe he used the boiling frog technique).
I don’t know who has been having fun with you, but they got you good. First off, its Itron, not intron. The reason they are not UL rated is because UL is for consumer grade installations only; i.e., YOU installing something that uses 100 or 220 with electricity provided by a company. The parts Itron uses are UL certified however. Smart meters (any meter) are installed by the electric company by certified installers. If there is a fire due to one of these meters (and no tampering is evident by the consumer) it is the responsibility of the electric company. These meters have gone through some pretty crazy testing as it is. The reports of error I am certain you have heard about are from the early adopter sites.
Part of the reason for the new meters is to cut down on visits to your property to read your meter (yes, electric companies get sued for trespass all the time by frivolous customers); it also eliminates the guesstimation in what you are charged as well as aides in scoping out long term contracts between bulk distribution suppliers which over the long term lowers prices (many companies are still locked into fixed long term contracts at the moment even though smart meters are in the wild; is what it is). Next there are technologies coming (and some already in the works) that will literally break up the “grid” as we know it today and those hooks rely on modernizing as a whole (micro grids).
Finally, no, these smart readers cannot tell what you have “on” in your home. They can’t snoop on your internet or monitor your cell phone calls. They simply do not have the physical technology within the units to do that. Someone is having fun with you. Where people have freaked out is that these meters talk among themselves on their own encrypted network and use each other to hop scotch back to the collection servers. That is where the whole “OMG! They’re spying on me” crap started out. The systems that gather the usage data from these meters are heavily isolated and no government spook is hovering over the servers nor can the servers even get out to a government network. Its just bunk what is being fed to you.
As to your shutoff notice from your provider, I would love to see that document (minus personal info of course). Please scan and post it.
Thanks for the facts. I’m not familiar with smart meters since I live in the sticks. I understand UL’s role in safety testing of consumer goods. Who is the independent lab that performs the same safety testing for utility equipment?
Since you joined FR the DAY I posted my observations about Intron (my typing error) i.e Itron I think you are undoubtedly a troll. Frankly I think you work for Itron or Penelect or First Energy as your comments were not helpful Snide or condescending might be a better descriptor.
You may see the letter with the threat to terminate my electricity if and when I get to see your physical face. I am going to send it to the “media” as soon as I am well enough. Being almost 80, having two wicked diseases requiring refrigerated medications and being a Navy vet and having my electricity terminated in winter and 20+ degree nights are still a nightly occurrence might elicit some interest.
First Energy is a bullyboy company. No managers will deign to talk to a lowly real person...all I got were CS people and we all know just how knowledgeable they are about ethical issues like terminating electrical service when all bills have been paid on time for years and years and years. They don’t care.
So Ante UP with a real name and phone number and you might wrangle an invitation to visit the Big Empty but only after I have checked that you are a decent human without a prison record. or history of domestic or other abuses.
