Vanity - Trump Critics
3/24/18 | self

Posted on 03/24/2018 12:41:45 PM PDT by Moe-Patrick

To the Freepers blaming Trump for the Omnibus: Please state what he should have done including the aftermath. Many wanted a veto, but never address the subsequent steps necessary for a ‘win’.

I love Free Republic and the thoughtful, intelligent commentary. Yet I was stunned to see so many comment on various posts with such little insight. Trump cannot write legislation nor can he make politicians do anything. What role do voters play? It seems that most expect Trump to fix everything while we as voters do nothing. We voted for the uniparty. We don’t march on Washington, we send our kids to propaganda schools and colleges, we don’t show up period. What are you doing personally to fight and win?

Proper perspective, saying Merry Christmas was hate speech before Trump. Isis attacks were normalized. The only immigration reform being offered was legalizing 11 million. Trump won despite the media, uniparty, FBI, DOJ, criminal investigation, wiretapping, Bush dynasty, Clinton dynasty, illegal voting, and indoctrinated voters. The argument isn’t about Trump’s missteps or wins, it is about saving this country. Trump is the only person fighting to turn it around.

For those still playing armchair quarterback vowing to not vote in 2020, imagine Trump quitting tomorrow, Pence stepping up, or whomever. And play that scenario out. What would change? Would the Congress suddenly become Conservative? Would they repeal Obamacare? Would they build a wall? Would they nix Planned Parenthood? Would they cut spending? Would they balance trade? Would they deal with Iran and NK or appease them? Would they deport DACA recipients plus the 11 million? Would they fight media? Would they fight the progressives openly and loudly? Would they fight for the party?

In summary, Trump can only be as Conservative as the bills handed to him. If you want Conservative bills, attack those writing them. Trump is not God. Be a part of the solution.

You are making excellent points.

Unfortunately some people don’t want to face reality.

Trump is doing an excellent job.

Unfortunately, many Republicans in Congress talk like conservatives at election time, but once elected they don’t fulfill their promises.

We need to support Trump, to help him accomplish what he wants to do.

He should have taken a couple or three days, split 2200 pages up between staff members, and made an informed decision. Signing a bill he hadn’t read ...... he should resign if that’s the best he can do. Veto it and let them over ride you if that’s what they want to do. What he did was not 4D chess. It was BS

Depends on how you define “win”. Could he realistically stop this Porkulus from going through? Probably not.

Could he have made the border wall a condition of his signing and forced the Swamp as going on record as being against border security, energizing his base for the 2018 elections? Absolutely yes.

Let me ask you: what new constituency has he won and who has he energized with his decision to cave and sign this?

I’m sure many think we should have let Hillary win. I mean, if you can’t have 100% of your goals, might as well settle for 0%. Then, you won’t have to say “I voted for the 10% I didn’t like”.

I only say he should have vetoed it to point out that he didn’t because throughout the process, he had his team on the hill moving it through congress. Pence was praising it on the day before it was signed. He sold out. Pure and simple. But had he, it either would have been sent back and reworked or vetoed which would mean congress would own it.

I posted this in a thread yesterday

I ask, How do we expect one man to fix everything?

We could not even get a republican elected in PA-18

Nor one in the Senate in Alabama

We are failing HIM

not the other way around.

Everyone around him betrays him

He has that Mueller looking to throw him in jail

A media that wants him dead

An opposition party that wants him dead

A couple past their prime whores who want to destroy his marriage

People are sending his family death threats and mystery powders

He has endured more then any other political figure on the planet has ever gone through.

Maybe this wasn’t the hill to die on? He did not like the bill, nor wanted the bill but really, wasn’t much choice. A veto would have gotten over ridden anyways. Maybe he has something else up his sleeve or maybe he doesn’t want to be president anymore. I don’t blame him. If I was 70+ year old Billionaire, the last thing I would want to do is be in politics. I don’t know. I am disappointed, but I am going to stick with him and will vote (R) in primaries and the general.

The media, democrats and the GOPee want us to drop support of him. They want us to sit home. They want us to be mad, so why give it to them?

Run that by me again - the part about sending my kids to government schools and not showing up at town halls or local council meetings.

A Veto would have pushed this piece of legislative effluent back to the House and Senate. They would have an opportunity to override the veto.

The outcome? Override successful? Nothing changes from what we have today...DJT can slow walk the disbursements, redirect funds, and all the other things Zero did while operating on ‘Omnibus’ bills rather than true budgets. PLUS, people would see he’s serious about the planks of the platform that got him elected.

Override NOT successful? The RINO’s and libturds would be shown, once again, as the cowardly moral relativists they truly are.

Veto was a WIN/WIN for DJT.

Here’s the President’s situation more specifically defined.

* Each of the houses of Congress very nearly had enough votes for a veto override.

* Congress went to break. That would have shut down the government, until they went back in session, turning more government-sucking voters, including government-supported Republican voters, against the President.

* After returning, they would have gotten the very few extra votes they needed for an override.

That’s how it works. And yes, many members of Congress did that for well over 40 million government-connected people who don’t want any spending cuts. They did it for enormous sums of money they’ll get for campaigns from the lobbies for the associations representing those people.

If, for example, you want to focus mostly on preserving your Second Amendment rights, join the NRA. There’s a lobby that’s been fighting for us. It easy, doesn’t cost much, and you get some cool stuff that’s worth more than the membership fee.

There are also organizations that will fight for your other rights and will use the same kind of influence that the government employees and contractors have been using to get what they want (higher pay, more control over the rest of us, etc.).

Why is Darth Vader smarter than every other conservative pundit? Why was so much energy vested in painting this as a swamp bill belonging to Ryan and McConndll? Because if Vader is so smsrt, McConnell and Ryan aren’t the swamp but our best buds.

And if you want to keep Mr. Trump as our President and don’t want him to be impeached, make sure that Democrats don’t get control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections this year. At least vote. Better yet, campaign in your locale. Speak. Pass leaflets with memes on them around.

If I may, let me summarize what I’ve seen Trump critics say in the last 24 hours.

Impeach Trump. We would be better off without him. I am not voting in the mid terms. I am done with Trump from this point forward. I’m sorry I ever supported Trump in the first place. Trump is a bitter disappointment. Blah, blah blah.

I have yet to see, to be honest and fair, anyone say “I wish Hillary was president instead”. But for crying out loud, they may as well come out and say that with the whiny attitude that they are taking about this omnibus bill.

To me, the only thing he did wrong was try to explain it away. He looked like a simpering weakling for the first time in his adult life.
