They should stick with tried and true 1911. Why fix something that isn’t broken?
Amen, 1911 or bust, best pistol ever made and still is.
Good question.
FYI, Sig's bid for the MHS came in $100,000,000, (one hundred million dollars), under Glocks.
M-11 = Sig P228
Don’t think they make it anymore due to the alloy frame.
It does necessitate a larger grip...which most of the pussified panty-waists (example: Chubby-cheeked faggot Bradly Manning) cannot handle.
But the 1911 has stood the test of time...period.
I have trained so many youngsters in the use of it...from 115 pound giggling school girls, to hulking farm boys with wheat chaff still in their hair...and all, ALL learned to effectively use the 1911.
It ain't rocket science.
The 1911 is the MOST user-friendly gun platform that the US Armed Forces has ever had...or ever will have.
This stupid crap with the Beretta, the Sig, the Glock...all politically driven.
Legend has it that God appeared before John Moses Browning and gave him the 1911 design.
Who can argue against something like that?
Throw out all that plastic crap and go back to a proven design.
They should have chosen the S&W MP
The 1911 might be the most naturally pointing sidearm ever made. The “2011” double stack is not thicker than many of the double stacks considered. I would argue that 9x23 would be a better coice than .45 but I would take either.
If they want a 9mm they should issue Hi Powers.

I have owned to Sigs. Never had an issue with either one. Im not a total gun guru, but I was never let down with the reliability of either the 9 mm or 40 cal.
The Sig P228 is a good, accurate gun, and it doesn’t have a trigger safe.
But it is an alloy frame, and for some reason, everyone seems to love the plastic frames.
I’ve got 1000 rds. thru my P320RX with no problems.
I did install a lighter trigger.
I have no interest in the recall for drop safety.
Love the weapon!
Exactly my first thought! This went into the field like this. What the...?
Woah. Didn’t know that. Still, to have these go into service with seemingly incomplete testing is difficult to grasp. You have this enormous contract with a product directly involving life and death, and basis, and significant, issue are found after distribution??
Can someone explain to me what that means? How would the striker get struck?
The Glocks are touted as not discharging unless the trigger gets depressed. Drop it from any distance, run over it, use it as a hammer. If the trigger isn't manipulated, it ain't firing. At least, that's what's they say.
Don’t worry, they’re still under warranty.
Too big, bulky and heavy for “people with small hands”.
not quite user friendly, I had to install a ambidextrous safety to make it good.
Sheesh!...you left-handed people want everything your way, don't you?
Actually, I think an ambi safety is a great idea for a 1911.
Easily installed, doesn't affect the operation of the weapon in the least, and works for everybody, particularly in a weak-hand/strong-hand scenario.
A long time ago, I trained soldiers with the lefty disease on weak-hand safety manipulation...they got it pretty quick.
But I agree, ambi safety is a good thing.
Not all holsters are in agreement, though, but that's a negligible expense.
Not fer nuthin' but I wouldn't trade my 92FS for anything.
A good gun ... But the Glock 17 is still #1 in my book.
