From Portland go out on a lobster boat tour trip. Very interesting we learned a lot about those tasty little critters.

Maine's 2nd Cong. District gave it's 1 electoral vote to Trump.
Trump is very popular in northern Maine.

Hike up Mt Katadin- you can call it either the terminus, or the beginning of the Appalachian trail.

I suggest that you rent a cottage on Damariscotta Lake or one nearby. Some come with small boats to use and will have everything to use like you were home. You will be close to Popham Beach, Boothbay Harbor and not far from many of the coastal sites mentioned and will be North of the most congested parts of route 1. Homeaway.com for locating places to stay. You will be able to come home sit on the dock and listen to the loons and be away from tourists lol Why come to Maine and be in a crowd?

The grave of Joseph Plumb Martin, brave private in George Washington’s Army and lived to write a first hand account now called “Private Yankee Doodle Dandy.” Buried in Prospect, Maine. Interesting area, very rural and isolated but worth a visit.

Visit the parents, then head south to Florida. It is usually sunny and warm even in winter, with beaches, parks, and attractions of all kinds. Disney, Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Legoland, Cape Canaveral, and
Machine Gun America are all about an hour and a half apart in the center part of the state, from Tampa to Orlando to the Space Coast.
