No so sure about that, a pack can take down a deer. They were watching to see if she was going to start running.
Apparently they do.
Here in TX we hunt them. In CA, probably not as much.

It is rare, but does happen. I hear it is happening more and more in CA of all places. Combination of people moving out of developed areas, more time spent hiking- and it is people that have no brains about wild animals.
The average coyote isn’t very big so rarely have people been killed by them. Many coyotes no longer have any fear of people and people are getting dumber so I do think it will likely increase.
