The number of high-school-age teens who are having sex dropped markedly over a decade, a trend that includes substantial declines among younger students, African Americans and Hispanics, according to a new government report released Thursday.
The survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed especially steep declines in the past two years. It adds to evidence about ongoing progress in reducing risky behavior by teenagers, who are becoming pregnant, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and using marijuana at rates lower than younger people before them, according to public health surveys.

I agree with you. I’ll also add that they’re more connected (Internet, smartphones) and don’t have the same “I need to get out of my parents house” stir-crazy feelings. They need convincing to get a drivers license. I’m hearing it more and more. This may well lead to less physical interaction in general and the activities that go on when people are physically together (alcohol, drugs, sex, etc.).
Maybe there’s a correlation between these stats and vehicle mortality rates of younger drivers? ...although that’s probably hard to gauge. Smartphone distractions cause many accidents yet the cars are getting safer.
In any event, they don’t live the same as those 20-30 years ago. If we didn’t have a car and meet at “the meeting spot” at the right time, to find out where everyone was going, you were probably going to have a lonely evening. House to house phone calls got you nowhere as “they’re not here”. There’s definitely different dynamics going on. They can share information instantly. Even when they hang-out in groups they spend much of their time in front of laptops or their phone.
There has been a revival of the Christian faith among our nation’s youth - especially in urban areas. My observation.

I think older kids and adult kids have far more difficulty when parents split as they have a history with both parents....they never fully heal.
