There’s more to this question than people seem to think.
1. The penalty should not be so severe that a false accuser won’t admit to the false accusation.
2. The penalty should not be so severe that an actual victim hesitates to come forward out of fear of the penalty if the system decides the accusation is false, even though it isn’t.
3. How is an accusation determined to be false? If the accuser admits it that’s one thing, if it has to be proven, that’s something else.
4. What if the victim believes the accusation but is mistaken about the identity of the accused?
5. If the accused is determined to be not guilty, is the accuser automatically assumed to be guilty of false accusation?
6. I don’t doubt the existence of follow on questions I haven’t thought of.
Interesting Cell phone is missing this post. All the rest are their. On my PC not Cell.
That’s easy - the same as the accused would have gotten if it had been true.
The bible is crystal clear on this. The penalty is exactly the same as being convicted of rape.
There is no way to make it right. The accuser should pay a huge cash penalty to the innocent person and then work for a number of years in the rescue of victims of international sex slavers or other help for real victims.
The same as for the person rightfully convicted of the crime. No exceptions. No weepy-face letting the liar go free. JAIL.
The same sentence a rapist would get.

If a false witness rises against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing, then both men in the controversy shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who serve in those days. And the judges shall make careful inquiry, and indeed, if the witness is a false witness, who has testified falsely against his brother, then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you. (Deu 19:16-19)That seems like a good idea to me.
The same sentence the unjustly accused would have served if convicted.
when victims, witnesses, cops and DAs lie or withhold evidence they should be imprisoned for the length of time the accused would have served if found guilty, up to an including the death penalty.

Someone didn’t like the poll results!
They should be sentenced to serve one night in Bill Clinton’s cell as his cellie.
The exact same penalty as those falsely accused. No more, No less!
