President Trump Should Let Chuck And Nancy Have Their Government Shut-Down
DB Daily Update ^ | 12.7.2017 | David Blackmon

With Chuck Schumer and San Fran Nan threatening to shut down the government because they want amnesty for all the “Dreamers”, weak-kneed Republicans in congress are running scared because they know the fake news media will put the blame for the shut-down on them.

My question to them is, so what? Have you learned nothing from history? The last time the Republicans got blamed by the fake news media for shutting down the federal government was 2013, when Ted Cruz single-handedly dragged the party kicking and screaming to negotiate something meaningful into the budget bill under consideration at the time. 14 months later, the GOP went on to win a massive tidal wave victory in the next mid-term congressional elections in 2014. Why? Because by shutting down the government, even for just a few days, Republicans in congress energized their base by demonstrating they actually do have the ability to stand for something.

This is a potential teaching moment for President Trump. There is no doubt his instinct will be to let Chuck and Nancy shut the government down if they want to, and then get on this Twitter feed and pound them for as long as it lasts. That’s exactly what he should do, for the benefit of the Republican Party and the country.

The Republicans in congress have been repeating this exact failed strategy in budget negotiations for far too long. It’s up to President Trump to stop the insanity. Shut. It. Down.

If there is a shut down, Trump should use it to send a bunch of useless government employees home for good.

Go for the shutdown.
BTW: when I get furloughed, I don’t get paid - and don’t expect gov’t bureaucrats to either.

“I was not aware that the Dems had won the Senate.”..

Actually, they haven’t “won” the senate, McConnell lets them use it as they/he sees fit, the same way Ryan does with the the house. Both are “real” leaders, NOT!

Great. All non-essential employees could then be sent home. This time, provide a box for their belongings and clock them out one last time. Don’t let the door hit you in the asp.

I am certain that the non-essential slugs would love an extended “paid” Festivus Break. Total garbage.

The government does NOT shut down. Amazingly large portions of Fedzilla are deemed essential and continue functioning.

I agree, More and more, it seems as if a "government shutdown" is a ploy used by Dems and their media to blame Repubs for not giving in to them....

Shut it down.....

Gentle suggestion: Always use quotes when writing about a government "shutdown". Especially in headlines, titles.

Shutting government down because illegals are NOT made citizens doesn’t seem like a winning strategy.
If by some odd chance that happened I’m sure Trump will get the blame where it belongs, too many folks seem to be waking up to the left’s antics.

Every time this comes up confusion reigns over what is an essential government employee. Basically, “essential employees” are those necessary for the preservation of life or safeguarding property. IOW, doctors, firefighters, and security police. The government does many things that do not fit this definition of “essential”.

For example, very few government employees in the department of defense are considered “essential” but they do perform tasks necessary to defending the US.

“For Trump it is a win win...”

No DACA path to citizenship until after the wall is built is absolutely necessary and un negotiable. However, if the government were to shut down in the interim, the preceding two positions are not mutually exclusive.

Agreed. And unlike obama, who went out of his way to cause hardship, Trump should make sure it is a painless absence of government oversight. He should also make it plain to democrats that he will sign NO bill resuming government if back pay for furloughed workers (except the military) is included. After all, it is government worker representatives who are precipitating this impasse

I agree. Shut it down. The longer it is shut down and nobody notices, the better case it makes for cutting the size of gubmint.

President Trump Should Let Chuck And Nancy Have Their Government Shut-Down

Usually, very few people are affected by a government shutdown, aside from the politicians and the fake news reporters.

I was just wondering how many REAL Americans sympathize with sChmukie and SanFran Nan shutting down the government in order to benefit a bunch of illegal alien "dreamers"? Besides, don't they know that a government shutdown will delay the dreamers' welfare checks?

As a side note to possible government shutdown, please consider the following.

If we had a federal government that respected its constitutionally limited powers, a government shutdown would arguably mean little more than an interruption of the U.S. Mail Service (1.8.7).

In other words, most domestic federal government services and social spending programs are based on state powers and state revenues the the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds have stolen from the states, state revenues stolen by means of unconstitutional federal taxes.

The remedy to unconstitutionally big federal government …

Patriots need to finish the job that they started by electing Trump president in 2016.

More specifically, patriots now need to be making sure that there are plenty of state sovereignty-respecting, Pres. Trump-supporting patriot candidate lawmakers on the 2018 primary ballots, and pink-slip career lawmakers by sending patriots candidate lawmakers to D.C. on election day.

Agree also. Chuck and Nancy are thinking that the playbook of dealing dealing with rollover Bush is going to work again. The current guy in office ain’t gonna roll over and take it.

Not only a shutdown, but no pay for the govey workers/pensioners, either, during the shutdown.
