I am looking for help from someone who has access to the September-October 2012 edition of Sports Afield magazine. It is the 125th Anniversary edition.
I am looking to confirm a quote from BYU professor Tom Smith. It is probably in the "Hunt Safely in Grizzly Country" article, but I do not have a page number. The quote is:
"If I'm actually out hunting and I have a gun in my hands a suddenly a bear comes at me--do you think I'm going to lay the gun down and pick up bear spray? Are you out of your mind?"
"Does it really have to be a spray versus gun argument? That's ridiculous." Smith says "both guns and spray have their place... because there are times when one is the better, or the only option."I can find the quotes referred to in places, but there does not seem to be an online link for the original source.
I am sure someone has access to a copy.
You can freepmail me if you have information.
Thanks for the links. I have seen a fair number of them already.
I am looking for an image of the original source, which does not seem to be readily available on the Internet.
This search proves that it’s not on Sports Afield’s site, so you’re pretty much SOL. You might try contacting the perfesser himself!
Don’t know if this hasn’t been considered but there’s always reprints

I believe there is a physical copy out there.
There might even be one in a library.
Some people keep copies of these magazines for decades.
You might find someone that has paid thousands for LexisNexis database access. Or if you are doing serious research, you may want to subscribe to LexisNexis and see what they have.
Five years old? Have you checked at your dentist’s waiting room?
I’d have to find a dentist that is a sportsman.
Unfortunately, my last dentist ( a very good one) just diappeared!
No one seems to know where.
Last one I saw was s duck hunter. I was there because I bit into some steel shot with a filled tooth. He made some crack about head-shots only
