But Pelosi persevered, at least for now, staving off her challengers and critics by reminding them that she is a wait for it master legislator. That claim is a laughable lie, but if Pelosi knows one thing, it is that Democrats love, love, love being lied to, which of course is why she rose to power in the first place. So things calmed down for her, but she was far from out of the woods, and many observers have remained concerned there could be more moves to oust her as next years mid-term elections approach.
So, by now youre wondering why I am writing about all of this today, and if I actually have a point to make, right? Right.
Well, yes, there is a point. Its one I meant to raise in yesterdays piece about the budget/debt ceiling/emergency relief deal President Trump made with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but the drugs Im taking trying to get over the flu have left me so drowsy I forgot to do so. And its a point pretty much everyone seems to be missing in all of this, especially Republicans, most of whom spent all day Thursday whining about the President making a deal with the devil.
The point here is that, by making this deal with Pelosi and Schumer, President Trump gave them a success story to brag about, propped them up as their Partys de facto leaders, and thus basically ensured that San Fran Nan and Cryin Chuckie Schumer will remain the ugly, deranged face of the Democrat Party through the 2018 midterm elections. In other words, the best possible outcome for the GOP.
When you see people like me talk about Trump playing 4D Chess while everyone else is playing checkers, this is exactly what we mean.

No, you can post your blog junk right here in full.
There is another win but it won’t be appreciated by the GOPe. By forcing their hand at a short debt ceiling raise, he moved them off the scum-sucking GOP plan to kick everything past the midterms. Fornicate them for how they have handled the “majority.” I almost hope for a RAT win in 2018 so we can abandon the old party and start a new one, jettisoning all that chaff at the side of the road. There is only a handful that are worth more than a bucket of warm spit.
But more important is the series of articles on the impact of recent hurricanes on the oil industry
The Trump energy policy is driving both jobs and GDP up.
Except, at some point, the GOP base might stop voting for people who can’t deliver on their promises.
I will say (WITH A BIG GRIN) WGAS?
So- IF Ryan & McConnell were half the leaders they thought they were PDT ‘siding’ with the LIBs is nothing because the Rs are still in control of both houses and the Ls don’t have enough to override the veto
UNLESS
A few Rs break ranks, then we can see who the REAL traitors are - or at least the RNC will basically learn who NOT to back (Like they don’t already know) - and if they don’t Ryan & McC may be perceived to have some kind of backbone.
I think this is a ‘win’ for PDT
It has been said MANY times - PDT is not your average politician.
He is the ‘poster boy’ for why people in ‘control’ (Trump & his Construction business) tend to give to BOTH parties and BOTH (or more if necessary) candidates, dependent where he wants to do business.
It is the other end of the scope where you figure that people who post a candidates sign in his business is basically ‘teeing’ off half of his customer base.
IF one is planning on building a project, it is a pretty good idea to have a ‘voting majority’ on your side, regardless of their party affiliation.
PDT doesn’t have the politicians mind set
Notice how when PDT got into the ‘dreamers problem’, Ryan was quick to jump up and say “HEY that is OUR JOB...just WITF do you think you are?”
Which opens up so PDT can jump in and say
“HEY you aren’t doing your job, I am just boosting you into doing it”
Just can’t see the forest for the trees.
You’re a man on a mission. ;-)
He did the same thing regarding DACA, didn’t he?
I’m one of them. I’ve voted for one democrat in my life and it was in 1972, and she was a conservative.
If they get nothing done, I won’t just sit out 2018. I’ll vote for every democrat running.
I forgot to add: And buy a LOT more ammo.
Good grief, we're sunk...and I welcome our Meeheecan overlords.
Oh my...why?
I would rather have a befuddled gridlock than dumbles running around with their fascism unsheathed.
Sometimes it’s better to cut off the leg than let the gangrene affect the whole body.
I take that attitude more and more with the U.S.
And yes, it will hurt at first.
” because I resent individual researchers and journalists from getting paid for their efforts”
I wish you’d give it a rest
Not every journalist or researcher has to get paid by working for some corporate owned media
Bloggers are independent contractors , citizen journalists who earn money from advertisers or paid subscriptions by publishing their work and that of other citizen-journalist and getting it read
You resent this?
Surf the media and pick up your own sources of news and opinion
Or write your own op ed and post it for free
Like on Free Republic
It’s “ free” right?
Oh wait- thank the people who contribute and donate for keeping this forum of links to news sites including BLOGS open for discussion
Maybe you’d prefer popup ads or that the Robinsons work for “ free”
What good would Free Republic be if it didn’t allow the collection and posting of provocative or well written pieces by citizen- journalists and researchers?
Every time you bash a blogger I give him or her extra visits
Sometimes more
To all you citzen-journalists-
Blog on
Odd how I don't recall having said that.
What I resent is some blogger using Free Republic as a free advertising platform.
The immediate whine from the GOPe was that Trump gave Schumer and Pelosi what they wanted
More astute observers are seeing Schumer and Pelosi gave Trump what he wanted and needed for now
Immediate funding for disaster relief and a reprieve from the endless politicization and drama over the “ debt ceiling” - an issue about which the GOP are like whores trying to defend their virtue
“A boy with a gun. I’ve got a picture in my pocket of the lucky one!!” -DEVO
The “4D Chess” argument is tiring. Making nice with Democrats is never a win.
The history however says that once the dumbles get their claws into there are not enough conservatives to reverse them. Case in Point: zerocare and the never repeal.
I WANT to believe that there will be a mighty wave of indignation and righteous anger that will resotre our Republic to its former glory.
But I bitterly believe it will never happen. At best, I want to keep the known snakes out of the house.
