Trump, GOP should keep DACA but scrap birthright citizenship
Fox News Opinion ^ | September 04, 2017 | Liz Peek

If Trump does turn the matter over to his wobbly Republican colleagues, he must demand they cut a deal: agree to grant the “Dreamers” permanent status in the U.S. in exchange for abolishing birthright citizenship. That single change could forever reduce the allure of sneaking into the U.S.

Removing birthright citizenship (anchor babies) should have been done decades ago; probably in the 1950's. It would have prevented a lot of problems happening in America today. I'd like to see it retroactive going back a decade at least.

I don't agree with DACA. What do you tell all the people who have been working hard to come here legally? Oh, you're going to have to wait another 20 years because we are letting 2 million illegals stay who were brought here by their parents? I don't think so. That's just plain wrong on every level. These are not kids; they can find work in their own countries with the skills they have gained here. They will do better than their home countrymen most likely.

Also there are millions of legal immigrants and American citizens trying to get the jobs many of these illegals are taking. America first. American citizens and legal immigrants first in America.

The more concessions we’ve granted them the more they take and the more they demand. Let’s end this madness here and now and build that damn wall higher and deeper.

What will happen if he tries to cut a deal will be that we end up with 800,000 newly entitled Mexican nationals and Birthright Citizenship will not be modified to exclude those born to illegal aliens.

One way or the other it will be a bait and switch.

Just end DACA and go hard on clarifying the 14th Amendment as regards birthright citizenship. It can be done with a simple act of Congress, and allegedly we have both houses.

And they want us to believe they all are productive non-criminal members of our society. That’s a crock. I’d wager that at least one out of every ten ‘dreamers’ are members of a criminal gang.

This is what I posted earlier on another Thread.

>>>He is throwing this right into McConnell’s and Ryan’s faces.

Once Congress starts debating this, President Trump should say that he will not sign any Legislation that does not include his earlier restrictions on Legal Immigration and ends the practice of automatic Citizenship being given to the Children of Foreign Nationals (Legal and Illegal), AKA Anchor Babies.<<<

Completely fund a wall, ban sanctuary cities, strengthen the Canadian border, put a number on legal immigration and visas, severely limit entitlements and end birthright citizenship and we can discuss DACA.

Yup, those are my feelings about this as well!

No welfare = no mass illegal immigration mess.

It’s more important than the actual physical wall IMO.

Do both! Get rid of birthright citizenship and strip those who used it. End DACA and send those people back as well. All gone. Don’t forget to send the parents back as well. Good riddance.

There is room for a deal I think. Things Trump is looking for:

-Wall
-E-Verify
-RAISE Act
-Ending birthright citizenship
-More money to deport people who are violating immigration laws

Trump will likely get little of these things if any through. He won’t be able to get them all, but a deal to work out something with the Dreamers in exchange for border enforcement - particularly the wall and E-Verify would be good. If you are going to help the Dreamers here, you need to put policies in place to ensure there isn’t another round of Dreamers in a few years (which is what the establishment GOP and Dems want - open borders).

90% of DACA are Hispanics. If we grant Hispanics racial preference over all the other applicants already waiting patiently for American citizenship, on the weak excuse that because they are breaking the law already so just let them in, we are violating our own immigration laws and setting a dangerous precedent for future race-centric mass immigrations.

What would Congress say if it was proposed that the next ‘batch’ of 880,000 immigrants to be pushed to the front of the line were 90% European Wasps and 75% of those ending up in California would end up on long-term welfare? Would Congress agree to let them come? Hell to the no.

Americans didn’t build a nation and practice massive conservation of its resources along with millions and millions to our southern neighbors to fix their countries so they could stay home, just to give the country away to so-called economic refugees disloyal to their own country and ours. And don’t let people fool you that things are just sooo terrible in Mexico and other latino countries. There are plenty of youtubes to prove that wrong.

Needs to do both plus end chain migration, secure the border and deportation through law enforcement.

They both should go. As well as the 30 million illegals here currently.

They aren’t giving Trump anything. Haven’t you noticed?

And why should he have to give them amnesty in return for bits of enforcing our laws?

What this president is dealing with is a congress that is made up of a majority of people who work for whoever is making illegal immigration happen. And there’s a wall of power there.

He’s not dealing with people who want to do the right thing by the people who put them into power - the voters

The voters are quite aware that the congress is a wall of illegal immigration agents

It’s why when Trump says make America great they hear stop congress from destroying our country

Obviously it’s going to take deal making. And nothing else has worked so far

Trump knows how to do it

Heads will spin as Trump’s support doesn’t decrease while he’s deal making

That’s their trust in his ability to get at least something done against this large and powerful group of bait and switchers

If they wasn’t to be Americans so bad why do they wave Mexican flags when they make their demands?
