No, if it happens it shows ignorance as well as being anti-American.
They can be removed ONLY if replaced with a statue of ODUNGO bent over in a bath house...
Otherwise...NO!
Look at it this way. Their way of life was attacked. Slavery was dead wrong. Mistreating humans is dead wrong. Confederate fighters were fighting for their way of life.
But right now, slavery lite is praised by these same holier than thou s ripping down statues. Seems using illegal semi-indentured labor is equally precious today. Also being fought for very hard by much of this country’s business and government, straight to the top (Presidents Bush and Obama come to mind).
So who the HELL are these people acting so pure and holy? There are indentured workers with less privileges than “property” slaves back in the 1800s right now, working in factories, farms, and businesses. There are young girls held as literal slaves to work the sex trade right now in this city. WHO ARE YOU KIDDING, you’re against slavery???
I see the anti confederate FReepers are staying clear of this thread.
Jeff
You had no use for any of my editorials?
I am in favor of “moving” them to areas that are still proud of their southern ancestors.
The cities that long ago were abandoned by conservatives shouldn’t be forced to display statues to things or people they dislike. Anymore than I should be forced to keep the decorations on the wall of a property I just bought.
“Nope”
Double hell no!
Our United States approved of slavery before and after the Civil War until the approval of the Amendments. Slavery was morally wrong but not against the law of the country before and during the first two years of the war. Those opposing any vestige of the Confederacy are hypocrites. Lincoln fired Fremont and Hunter for trying to make the war over slavery the first years. Lincoln changed publicity tactics in 1862 because he was losing and slavery was the game changing card.

This is pure liberalism ... the hive mind ... the innate knowledge of "should" and "shouldn't" .
Oh the humanity, think of the pigeons, what are they to do.
