Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens criticized President Donald Trumps policy temporarily banning travel from six Muslim countries and averred that if I were still on the Court I would have upheld the lower court decision to veto that policy.
Im not indifferent to the need for national security, but we cannot put that ahead of religious freedom, Stevens declared. I do not deny that some of the precepts of Islam encourage adherents to take a hostile stance against non-Muslims, but we should not descend into intolerance of this religious difference just because it makes us uncomfortable, especially when a case can be made that the Christian admonishment to turn-the-other cheek appears to be symbiotically compatible with Islams demand that Muslims attack unbelievers.
I think European leaders who have urged that we learn to live with terrorism have a better understanding of the need to accommodate diversity, Stevens mused. The lives that would be lost to such an accommodation will surely be dwarfed by the number lost due to unmitigated climate change. So, from a practical standpoint, Trump has focused on the lesser threat.
In related news, actor and open borders advocate George Clooney is moving his family out of the United Kingdom as a safety precaution. It seems that his international human rights attorney wifes position that terrorists should be prosecuted has spawned a spate of death threats from ISIS. The ease with which terrorists have launched high-profile attacks in this country and others in Europe presents too great a risk, Clooney said. In America we have the right to bear arms and can better defend ourselves.

Imagine Stevens saying, “I do not deny that some of the precepts of the KKK encourage adherents to take a hostile stance against non-Klansmen, but we should not descend into intolerance of this religious difference...”
Selective discrimination is part of the liberal ideology.

Stevens, like Carter, like Clinton, like Obama, can’t live out of the spotlight.
He’s still alive?
It is an old trick of the Left, that you will encounter over & over again, in meeting their fallacious arguments.
I forgot...who do we have to thank for appointing this prick in the first place? Hope the old knob strokes out soon.
Thanks, Gerald Ford, for foisting that liberal POS onto the American judiciary for decades.
***Former*** Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens...
Guess you shouldn’t have retired, Johnny, if you still wanted to have an effect on public policy. Sucks to be you.

Yes, selective discrimination.... Its not about religious liberties, its about whether POTUS has the right under the constitution to take such action to protect our boarders. YES HE DOES!
