Conservatives have split into two factions: Never-Trumpers and Always-Trumpers. Never-Trumpers detest President Donald Trump, and Always-Trumpers think he walks on water. According to Allie Stuckey in this Millennial Moment, both extremes are exhibiting irrationality when it comes to the president.
Some Never-Trumpers, she asserted, are worse than liberals with their sensationalized criticism of the president. She asked why they cant give him any credit for the good things hes doing. Youve just decided that you hate him so everything he does is automatically wrong, she said to Never-Trumpers.
Always-Trumpers defend Trump even when hes wrong. Allie wondered how they can praise executive orders that dont do what they say they do, or how they can approve of a spending bill that funds Planned Parenthood and a less than stellar health care plan.
And she pointedly asked Are you really okay with his tweets?
In all things, but specifically for this president, Criticism and praise should be circumstantial, not unconditional.
It's not about Donald Trump or any other personality. It's about principles, ideas, and policies. What do we stand for?
I know a “conservative” never Trumper who said
“it would have been better if hillary won because republicans would have worked harder”.
TRUMP is always better than any damn Democrat!
Yeah, im fine with his tweets. And I laugh at these whiny bitchlets who are SO desperate to stop his tweets.
And this was nothing but a way to slap Trump supporters. I am not fooled a second by her beginning “slap” at never Trumpers. That was just a tool to get to her real intended attack.
Swing and a miss.
I am sorry...after reading the headline and then seeing it was the Blaze...I had to laugh and shake my head. Can’t take it seriously enough to read further....
heh heh
Did you point out that Trump got two million more votes than Romney in 2012 while spending half the money?
Wait for 2021.
What’s the point?
The hatred is too deep.
Allie Stuckey looks like she was too young to have voted in the 2012 election. I do not see a single reason why I should value her opinion more than mine, or any other that I see her on FR.
I see zero bio beyond being a videoblogger. And of course, social media, mass comm major, blonde girl is upset Trump tweets. Funny if you think about it.
I actually went through the Never Trump faze because as a life long NYer, I just didn’t believe him.
But I’m not married to beliefs (well some I am, the basic truths of God etc.)
I voted for him and he has not disappointed.
What Allie Stuckey is conveniently overlooking is the fact that we are in the midst of a civil war in this country, and under such conditions, you don't undermine the commander-in-chief. Stuns like that are only legitimate during peacetime.
President Trump needs all the support he can get—even when he makes missteps. To stand back and try to claim some kind of equivalency between irrational #NeverTrump crowd's damaging efforts—versus Trump supporters who must overcompensate due to an intensely unfair and downright evil Enemy—is disingenuous at best.
President Trump isn't getting enough support from any source, so as far as I'm concerned, Trump supporters—who have to make up for an avalanche of unfairness—can't be judged on the basis the author is trying to claim.
Everyone knows damn well that President Trump can't walk on water—but regardless, we have to hope he can come as close as possible to doing so.
under these conditions—de facto civil war— I categorically reject any attempts to cast aspersions on President Trump's supporters for being too enthusiastic, or for overlooking his faults—because we have no other choice but to do so...
But I voted for Trump and like just about everything he's done so far. And he does have a way of making liberals and nevertrumpers insane, which can be fun to watch.
The Never Trumpers have yet to present a single logical fact based argument. Instead they habitually engage in diversion, dissembling and out right dishonesty.
IF you wish to “have a logical discussion” #Never Trumpers you have to be willing to act as logical adults, not petulance hysteric children pouting because you did not get the candidate you wanted.
Provided Trump doesn’t repeat the mistake of trashing conservatives in favor of RINOs, I expect Trump to have very long coattails in 2018.
The MSM has made Trump an underdog and contrarian, and both are beloved by Americans.
Welp...I’m not an “always-Trumper”, but I guess I’m pretty close.
You see, when I get behind someone, I get behind ‘em and stay behind ‘em.
I didn’t vote for Trump because I thought he was or would be perfect. And I only imagined the fury that the establishment (government, media, et al) would unleash on him.
However, unless I’m convinced of true animus towards “us” or the U.S., I’m with him.
I WANT him to upset the apple cart. I WANT him to tear things up in D.C. I am TICKLED at his tweets. He speaks to us via Twitter and goes around the press, in an almost side-of-the-mouth, head-shaking-in-disbelief tone that he’d have if he was talking to us one on one.
When I think of what the alternatives are/were, I get even MORE entrenched.
Our situation calls for some extreme, way outside the norm measures...
or we’re going to have a situation that is lots more dangerous, violent and harder to get over than just words, tone, personality and policy disagreements.
I’m not in either camp.
The Never-Trumpers are largely those opposed to ending the Cheap Labor Express and restoring the rule of law.
The Always-Trumpers are willing to ignore the fact that President Trump has already broken one promise of ending the illegal DACA program.
I’m a Always-Trumper
TRUMP is always better than any damn Democrat!
................................................................
Pretty much says it all and I agree!!!
“...Always-Trumpers think he walks on water.”
I can see the headlines. Trump Can’t Swim!
Not only that, but he signed on to the disastrous non-repeal of 0bamacare (the ACHA) and he is promoting a trillion-dollar “stimulus” infrastructure package.
He’s done a lot of good things, but let’s not be those people who would still support him if he shot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue. Support good policy, oppose bad policy — no matter who promotes it.
