The cancellation by ABC of Tim Allens hit comedy Last Man Standing comes on the heels of CBS Stephen Colberts obscenity-laced rant against Donald Trump and underscores how far the media thought police have gone in their war on conservatives, conservative thought, and even conservative comedy.
Allens show, in which he plays the manager of a sporting goods chain, features Allens biting and genuinely funny witticisms poking fun at all things liberal. Its humor is balanced, with the show featuring a Canadian liberal son-in-law who gets his points across. But it is a rarity among sitcoms, in that any conservative viewpoints are represented at all. In its sixth season, "Last Man Standing" is doing quite well in the ratings. As the entertainment website deadline.com noted:
ABC has opted not to renew the longtime Friday 8 PM anchor for Season 7 despite the fact that the blue-collar sitcom was ABCs second most watched comedy this season with 8.1 million viewers in Live +7, only behind flagship Modern Family (8,7 million). It was the third most watched ABC scripted series overall behind Greys Anatomy and Modern Family .
With a central character who is a political conservative and devout Christian adhering to traditional American values, the blue-collar comedy appeals to viewers in the Heartland, a constituency that helped elect Donald Trump as president and has been energized post-election as evidenced by the ratings success of new USA drama Shooter...
In its sixth and final season, Last Man Standing averaged a very respectable for any night and especially Friday, 1.2 Live+same day rating in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers, regularly winning its 8-8:30 PM time slot.

I have known for a long time that TV shows and movies are made to promote an agenda, and that entertainment and profit are secondary.
It would be great if a cable channel picked up the show, with private production money from folks with similar values.
Because it was on ABC, I never saw it as I don’t watch the networks.
But I saw reruns on a cable channel and was very impressed and entertained.
Totally agree. The Entertainment Business is not about Entertainment. Nor is it about Business.
Ever since Leer began his crusade ...
Name a confident, intelligent, conservative adult white male character in the last 20 years. Who is not a government “father figure” (bureaucrat, cop, “honest” spy or firefighter!) THAT just furthers the illusion of the government-father-figure!
Every liberal is a violent totalitarian thug.
Yeah maybe Fox will pick it up for the late night replacement for Red Eye!
.
It’s the Fatherland.....not the Father.
.
Just imagine if “All in the Family” with Archie Bunker was still doing his show.
Liberal viewers are the most desired advertising demographics.
Young, female, ethnic: marketeers pay more for these viewers for the same reason the Dems appeal to them- they’re suckers.
And ‘free’ TV gets ALL it’s money from marketers.
Dumb sluts: Lifeblood of the Media, Backbone of the Democrat/RINO Party!
Fox: 'Last Man Standing' canceled despite high ratings
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in December during a London media summit that broadcast TV was not paying enough attention to the Donald Trump voters."
So they cancel a hit show watched by 8.1 million mostly Trump voters?
Perhaps Mal Reynolds from “Firefly.” But he was ex-military, and captain of his trading vessel.
I agree with your premise about Norman Leer’s impact on the USA socially.
Archie Bunker began the social division between the left and right as a suitable TV program. The stereotyping of Archie, Rob Reiner et al was deliberate and long lasting.
I discovered this show several months ago in reruns and have looked forward to seeing more shows.
Just out of curiosity, what are the names of other popular ABC sitcoms?
If the show still has a loyal audience, some other network will pick it up.
I watched All in the Family from its inception and I noticed in the 3rd year on Archie’s opinions and ststements became crazier and crazier. Norman Lear it seemed was upset and worried that the reactions of too many viewers was “Yeay Arch. Way to go.” I know cause my dad and his family said exactly that. So Bunker began saying things only David Duke or Robert Byrd could agree with.
“Perhaps Mal Reynolds”
We all know what Joss Whedon is all about too.
Sometimes I think he was happy to abandon it, when the strange timeslots doomed the show. Most of the people on that show are politically reasonable (They don’t talk about it) or they are conservatives.
It wasn’t a cash cow for him, so he just walked away even though the fans were the most vocal base of viewers in the history of TV.
I haven’t figured out his take on SHIELD yet, but I know the Marvel universe is China’s little bitch from the get-go, and I won’t be watching anything else they put out. Which is a shame, because I love those movies.
China has a remarkably large influence on what we see and hear anyway. Not a lot of people know that, but the Chinese market opens up networks and producers to more than double profits if they air them in China. In order to do so, a communist, anti-america message MUST be prominent. They comply without hesitation.
There was one All in the Family episode I’ll always remember, I think it must have been around the fourth or fifth season. It involved Meathead’s friend who was a Draft Dodger who had just returned from Canada.
Archie’s reaction when he found out was very passionate, and some of the best damn acting Carroll O’Connor ever did.
