EMP isn’t practical. It is an Internet sensation, but it is of little actual signifigance.

The people who claim EMP is real are the type of people claim the Earth is flat. Booger eating basement nerds.

SM-3 can only hit very low orbiting objects. Other/most birds are plenty safe.

Apparently you never heard of the Carrington Event, either.

It’s a fictional book. Don’t Tell me that you believe drawing a tunnel on side of a rock let’s a train pass through because you saw it in the cartoons?

SM-3 block IA can hit satellites with a perigee below 600km. The new SM-3 block IIA can hit 1450 to 2350km.

To put that in perspective, the International Space Station is around 400km up.

Like I said doom porn. Those that think one nuke will send an emp over the entire US AND destroy every electronic device need to study wave propagation and decay characteristics.

Oh and your old microwave, foil lined box and copper mesh refer aren’t going to stop squat if you are close enough to a HEMP.

an editorial published in the North Korean state-run media agency KNCA threatened the White House would be “reduced to ashes.”

An EMP over Korea ain't going to burn anything to ashes in the US. An aurora over southern Australia, maybe, not even static in AM radios in the US. Someone in NorK needs to learn about magnetic fields.

You think he’s not a monster? Too moral?

NO, they're 30 years behind the rest of the civilized world in terms of technology.

Where do their scientists and programmers get trained? Certainly not MIT.

Unlike the Japanese and Chinese who have the ability to travel and access all the top universities in the US and abroad, the north Koreans don't have that luxury and thus have to rely on being educated "in house".

As for technology, nobody is trading with them that would keep them on the level as the countries around them. It wouldn't surprise me that they're still using the small box CRT's prevalent during the 80's............

Look at their air force comprised of only 480 planes, the vast majority of them are left over from the 70's, 60's and even the 50's.

Sorry GOPJ but I don't share your concern............

Lighten up. The video was for illustration purposes of what an EMP is/does.

They are further advanced than the media is willing to tell you.

Last August, North Korean media showed off video of a KN-11 submarine missile being launched from eastern coastal waters. Images of the North Korean dictator pointing to the missile launch were shown on the state television network.

The submarine-launched missile flew about 310 miles toward Japan. The test set a new distance record for Pyongyang’s SLBM program, and experts suggest the ballistic missile has the capability to travel more than 600 miles. Additionally, missiles fired by North Korean submarines off the east coast of Japan might be able to dodge detection from Japan’s Patriot anti-missile system by launching from behind radar.

That makes it easy simple to launch on the US, Alaska, or Hawaii. And that 600 miles at a few thousand miles an hour won’t take long.

The US Air Forces last report from the NASIC PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE at Wright Pat on the ability of sub launch didn’t entertain North Korea. But we know they have them even if they are in the infant stage and we can’t trust Kim not to do something stupid.

The Pukkuksong-1, which has an alternative name, KN-11, in intelligence communities outside North Korea, Polaris-1 (translated from the Korean, meaning North Star) or Bukgeukseong-1, is a North Korean, submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) that was successfully flight tested on 24 August 2016 and is expected by South Korean military sources to reach operational deployment at as early as 2017. And with their ability to produce weapons grade power, there can be more than one out there. We are about half way through 2017 and no one is talking so there is no denial of possibility and we know they can do it. They have the tools.
