Media industry website Mediaite reported Friday that conservative fat cats are considering the formation of a new conservative media outlet.
According to Mediaites report, the pace of the serious discussions has been picking up in the wake of rumors suggesting additional changes are in store at Fox News. A source reportedly told Mediaite that two prominent high-powered television executives, some underperforming conservative networks and people who have an interest and the ability to fund a new network are meeting Friday to discuss creating a rival to Fox News.
The group is concerned that Fox News is moving too far left and that an alternative to the conservative media powerhouse would be well received by audiences angry with the television networks new direction.
On Thursday, Gabriel Sherman of New York Magazine reported a management shake-up could be in the works at Fox News. Sources close to Bill Shine, co-president at Fox News, told New York Magazine that James Murdoch, the news networks CEO, and Lachlan Murdoch, the co-chairman, were unwilling to issue a statement backing Shine after Shine requested the Murdochs provide a public show of support.
In reaction to the report, Fox News host Sean Hannity wrote on Twitter Thursday afternoon: Gäbe i pray this is NOT true because if it is, thats the total end of the FNC as we know it. Done. Best Sean.
On Friday, The Hollywood Reporters Marisa Guthrie reported the Murdoch family, including Rupert, has quietly put out feelers for a replacement for Shine, and Guthrie says the Murdochs are actively seeking a woman to take the lead role.
If Shine is replaced, its possible Hannity could be the next Fox News star to depart the network. Hannity has a long history with Shine, who once served as Hannitys producer before working his way up to one of the top positions at the network.
An unnamed television executive who claims to be involved in the talks to form a new network told Mediaite he doesnt believe Hannity and Fox News will have a long relationship.
I just dont see Fox News and Sean having a long relationship, the source said. If Sean becomes available, you have 100 percent turnover in primetime and a huge opportunity.
OTOH, we already have Newsmax, The Blaze, and One America. Would these investors be better served to invest in one of those? Or would they be better served to build something from scratch?
Perhaps they should revive Paul Weyrich’s old operation, National Empowerment Television (later known as America’s Voice.)
Where would Sean go to?
I get the impression that he feels invested in Fox, and doesn’t want to start all over with a fledgling network at this stage in his career. Otherwise, Sean could have walked last summer, when Ailes and Van Sustren did.
Sean likes the stability and big show budget of Fox.
There is also that operation that has Levin and Malkin. They dumped Mark Steyn for reasons that are unclear. Steyn has proven he could have a great television program. Best of all, it wouldn’t just be an hour of talking heads.
And Louder With Crowder. CRTV.
That’s online only, however.
Plotting and Considering are miles apart.
The Blaze strikes out, again.

Don’t those have to be the ones who were at the meeting? Who else is there?
I hope they call it The Fat Cat Network.
The rule is to have a picture of MM so large that only half an arm and a few locks of hair are visible? And I have a 23” screen.
so the Murdochs have a winning combination, tear it apart, and can’t figure out why they are losing viewers?
Makes good business sense to me.
yep, annoying as hell. graphics so big it freaks out safari on iOS.
c’mon, people. the preview function is your friend.
Trump TV.
TV is over. Steyn had a good show with high production values. Levin screwed the pooch with me for his poor handling of dumping Steyn.
Sorry about that. I can’t seem to find a smaller version.

MM looks GREAT on my tablet. And I get GREAT resolution when zooming in to check the white of her eyes. Very easy on mine...
Add Width=”800” or similar. The pic displays smaller, but one can still zoom in for full resolution. Only bad on dialup....
If they hire Hannity then Fox is done. Few liberals will be caught dead watching FOX. Their ratings will be worse than MSNBC, for several years.
