Designated Survivor while a promising and interesting premise, it has turned unto predictable crappy PeeCee nauseating liberal mush. What makes it worse is that its no surprise. Rich and privileged Hollywood these days... much prefers to preach and lecture us on our (perceived by them) shortcomings than to actually entertain. It IMHO will be their undoing.
Biggest disappointment ever. I gave it a few episodes hoping it would get better, but the political correctness got worse and worse. Our government is de-capitated, our very existence as a functioning society is in jeopardy, and the new president’s main goal is to punish islamophobia. Even the new ‘24’ is better than this lefy propaganda.
All TV and movies are created in order to promote an agenda, and not to entertain. The entertainment aspect serves to put the audience into a state of minimized judgement, so that it more easily accepts the true purpose of the show, the leftist message.
Last two episodes have lurched considerably left with the anti-Second Amendment agenda. Thought Imwas watching an ad from the Brady Campaign or Bloomberg.
This reminds of a show last season of “The Americans” (about Soviet sleeper agents who pretend to be Americans).
The mother and daughter are threatened (about to be mugged) on a dark street in Washington DC by two white guys!
It is the Amish, I tell you!
I TiVo the episodes.
Found myself fast-forwarding through the anti-gun program of 2 weeks ago.
Found myself deleting the series from my queue list after 3 minutes of more anti-gun in the latest episode.
1. As soon as any Republican is elected President at least on of the major networks will create a series with a fictionalized Democrat Leftist to serve as an imaginary shadow President.
2. This Shadow President will be more wise, kind, non-partisan, thoughtful and well spoken than any President. The Shadow President will implement every policy that Libs dream of, while lecturing the nation from a position of absolute political morality. 2 B. Funny, we never have a Reagan-like Conservative to contrast with the feckless real-life President during Democratic administrations. LOL.
3. During the W.Bush Presidency we had West Wing with Michael Dougals as the Wise-Philosopher President. We also had "Madamn Secretary", which was an attempt to show us what an idealized Hillary figure was accomplishing - clearly we were supposed to believe Hillary was equally pure and effective and not the drooling criminal we actually witnessed.
4. Survivor did start out with a very interesting premise and a lot of good action in the movie. If they stuck to the part of the plot lines involving the FBI / Terrorists / Sabatoge it might be a pretty good series. However even some parts of that storyline have jumped the shark: the mini-conclusion to the drama around the VP was quite unsatisfying and beyond belief, even for a hypothetical Washington in crisis.
5. But they didin't. They can't help themselves. They went totally off the deep end with Episode #15 (I think) where the entire hour is pretty much devoted to an effort by the POTUS and his wife to pass more Gun Control. The innocuous sounding "Universal Background Checks". President Keifer Sutherland and his (increasingly insufferable wife) are given ample opportunities to lecture us about the need for guns. Gun control opponents are portrayed as Red State Buffoons, scheming to hold on to seats without any real or legitimate concern with more Federal Gun control.
In summary it was truly horrible, like the worst episode of West Wing in it's preacher-presidential harangues of all things Conservative.
A huge disappointment, but not completely unexpected. I won't be tuning in for Season 2.
It quickly descended into an absurdly fictionalized portrayal of American Islamophobia, and I tuned out
Two white muggers in D.C. would THEMSELVES be mugged, and probably killed
I gave up on that show after I read the producer said he wanted viewers to root for the Soviets.

Reminds me of the 1970s and 1980s when every TV program had the “hero” mouthing anti gun platitudes.
As good an analysis as I’ve seen JB! The villain is a GOP Senator, who is one dimensional. We already KNOW, the REAL villains will be “Alt-Right white” militia types (with the GOP senator the leader?). Creativity is gone in “establishment entertainment” these days... killed by PeeCee, laziness and probably large uses of drugs. I noticed a few years back when Hollyweird started re-making old BAD movies, that they were out of ideas, gas and creativity (just above zombie status IMHO). Same can be said for most all modern “entertainment”, be it movies, music, comedy or whatever. It has descended into vulgarity, near-porn and worst of all it’s BORING and predictable! YAWN!!! CLICK (REMOTE OFF).
Good analysis, I DVR’d the program but when the long winter break was over, I just deleted those episodes I hadn’t watched. In addition to your criticisms, Kiefer drives me batty with his breathy deliverance. It works okay when he is pulling his Glenn Beckish intensity as a intelligence “fixer”. In a thoughtful role, he just seems like a high school drama student with the bonus of growing up with a family of actors.
The West Wing with an implausible backstory...
The Low Point: “I know nothing about the military, but I was a city planner, and if we blow up these two bridges, we will really screw up the terrorists’ commute!”
I assume everything on TV these days is nothing but liberal mush.
Don’t forget the last season of Homeland where the Hillary character is elected President and then harassed (and much worse) by the evil white guys that run the CIA.
These shows have such great potential—it is sad to see the PC crowd burn them in a pile of ashes of liberal clichés.
That’s why they call it “programming”—I think that is a George Carlin line.
