WTAF?

Let’s all learn to empathize with terrorists who slaughtered 3000 innocent Americans?

I think I would have a VERY good time with this!

So would I. My stepfather was the one of the smartest men I ever knew, and a great critical thinker.

If I were a student in that class, I would have some fun with it, and use my imagination.

It worked for me in school, lol. In 8th grade, my first presentation in drama class was "Chemistry fun at home." I opened by setting a firecracker off in the classroom.

I got an A. Nowadays, I would've been sent to alt school for the duration.

Just quote directly from the Qur’an. Start with Verse 45, The Sword Verse.

As a transplanted Yankee teenager in my new Southern high school, I listened with some amusement about the caning of Kansas Rep. Charles Sumner by the Honorable Preston Brooks, DEMOCRAT representative from South Carolina on May 22, 1856. It nearly killed Sumner and sharply polarized the public.

The event was symbolic of the “breakdown of reasoned discourse” in the pre-Civil War days. Like my kids used to say: “Are we there yet? Are we there yet?”. I think we’re close.

Since this is college, I wouldn't dismiss this assignment out of hand. College is supposed to be a place where students are exposed to opposing viewpoints. This writing assignment, if it is graded properly, can be an example of that.

A smart student would write about how terrorists are madly attempting to eradicate the conservative Judeo-Christian principles that this country was founded upon. The more crazy the terrorist perspective is written to be, the more it is based on unenlightened religious zealotry from before the Middle Ages, set against a moral framework of Western history that led to the creation of America that includes the university system, the more the student would be complying with the assignment.

I would demonstrate the terrorist POV, not by writing a paper about it.

But by driving a car through the campus quad injuring and killing as many as I could. Or I’d just set a bomb and blow up some building.

Automatic A, right?

I think they should take a trip to Afghanistan to interview some terrorist to get a better perspective.

I would write about learning to hate Christians and Jews while still a baby. I would write about sermons by imams telling the people to murder Christians and Jews. I would write about the constant stream of murders, rapes and destruction perpetrated by m*slims. I would get an “F” but would walk around with a smile on my face.

One could have fun with that using the Koran to justify the attacks.

I don’t actually mind the assignment. Winning requires that you understand the enemy and what motivates them. I don’t see the assignment as supporting the terrorist beliefs, just recognizing what those beliefs are.

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War

If it is used much as an oncologist studying cancer then I have no problem, much like the Navy's War Plan Orange trying to get inside the Japanese's heads before WW 2. On the other hand I fear anything coming from a modern college will be sympathetic to the terrorists.

When I was in college we had a terrorism class were the topics and pro or con were distributed randomly. An Air Force major got the pro nuclear terrorism paper and he gave a very good report on asymmetrical warfare and deterrence. At the end the professor then asked for the major's personal opinion on the paper. The major said "what a load of horses***".

When they have students write papers on the impact 9/11, the Munich Massacre, Ft. Hood, Chattanooga, Pulse Nite Club, Paris, Brussels (need I go on?) from the victim's families and friend's point of view, then, MAYBE then I'll be impressed.

I’m so glad my child already graduated. God give wisdom to the parents who have kids in public schools these days.

It’s getting bad, real bad.

The Great Satan... blah blah blah. Joos... blah blah blah... anger that the sun rose, anger that the sun set...

Yeah, and then 25 years from now, when one of the grown-up students is running for political office as a Republican, their assignment can mysteriously "be found."

I would have loved this assignment.

There you go. A+

Pages and pages of lusting after 72 virgins, deep hatred for women but going to strip bars and getting drunk before that attack, sitting among American people on the subway, on trains, in parks and dreaming of cutting their heads off because you think they are pigs. Restraining yourself from attacking a little Jewish girl on the sidewalk petting a dog. Coveting what you see around you and fantasizing about killing everyone who has it.....that would be a A+ paper...

Have fun with it. Go all out on the camel dung and how you gathered it after a night with said camel, the boy in the next village, your sisters and various cousins. Write in detail about the night at the bar and every disgusting act you performed against the Koran. The prof would fail you but you’d have fun.
