Overall, the budget looks good. I'm not sold on stimulus, but otherwise, it's got a lot of good things in it.

I look forward to even more next year.

Here in my neck of flyover country, the deplorables have been complaining about the decay of interstate roads and necessary rail lines for many years.

I figure that if this stimulus focuses on that instead of payoffs to cronies, it will be tolerable.

The only thing is, LIHEAP shouldn’t be gutted. It’s a program that actually works. The funds are given to the energy companies, so that no abuse can occur, and it saves lives every winter. There is absolutely nothing wrong with LIHEAP.

There are plenty of other wasteful programs that can be cut without harming people. There are so many stupid grants for ridiculous things like researching the mating habits of animals, which should be cut instead.

Trump needs to leave LIHEAP alone, or he’s going to lose a lot of his rural and elderly support when the snow flies.

I noticed this is at least the second Erick Erickson article you've posted in the last week.

The other article was from Red State.

The cucks keep on clucking.

I love how the Faux Conservatives in the Never Trump movement all have their scared cows. We shouldn’t cut foreign aid? Well I suppose I understand why Erickson thinks this. MOST of that money gets funneled to big corporations for “studies” and “projects” here in the USA. His paymaster don’t want their rice bowl touched.

IT ALL HAS TO BE ON TABLE “Movement Conservatives” The minute you find one sacred cow in budget, then everyone else’s cow becomes “sacred” too.

This is where the Movmeent Conservatives always fail. They think they can just cut “bad” spending and protect “good” spending. NO YOU CANNOT.

Here is how DC Works.

Republicans: “We are going to cut a-b-c to increase spending on D”.

Democrats:”Why do you hate grandma and kids, we not going to let you spend more on D if you cut A-B-C.”

Republicans: “Ok don’t be mad at us and write nasty things about us in the Washington Post and the NY Times! We will spend more on everything”.

EVERYTHING must be on the table for cutting. If you do not do that, nothing gets cut.

Trump should do the right thing and shut down the government until they pass a budget. Do not sign another appropriations bill. Either pass the budget or watch sob stories for months. Trump voters will stick with him through this. Congress will feel the heat much more. Force them to pass a budget!!
