Funny that FR should be secular, but you use a Hindu teaching.

"If a 16 year noob is too noob then FR should be virtually vanity-free (though I hope this is a non-vain vanity)."

Oh good Lord is it really 16 years? *sigh* Class of 2000 - a fine vintage ready to pour for this Inauguration...

My understanding is that Jim Robinson put some constraints on SunkenCiv’s posts which SunkenCiv found to be unacceptable..

A shame.

I have found SunkenCiv’s archaeology posts to be profoundly instructive.

I believe you’re correct. I know there was a contingent of FReepers who got on the #NeverTrump train, and it was JimRob’s call that given what we were up against, that was not something his website was going to give sanction or credence to.

"That brought tears to my eyes."

That is, indeed, curious. The pervasive, irrational cynicism of it brought a rank stench to my nostrils...

Was it intend as humor? Whimsy? Nonsense? Sarcasm?

Personally, I find your post's thought-provoking nature elevates it above mere "vanity" and places it more in the category of "FreeperEd"...

~~~~~~~~~
Not all FReeper-originated subjects fall into the disdained category of "vanity".
I've observed that we (rightly so) eschew commenters' injecting thoughts that are so far "off-topic" that they risk "hijacking" a thread onto another path.
Yet, FR has, regrettably, evolved into a state where personally voicing a subject in a thread of its own (when no suitable thread on the subject is "running") is met with (often asinine) attacks -- and that, IMO, is sad...
It is bad enough when the left shout us down. But, I sense that we, here on FR, (for whatever egotistical, self-gratifying "reasons") have devolved into "shouting each other down". And that is, literally, self-defeating.
There is much wisdom here on FR; perhaps we should seek it -- rather than seeking the cheap 'thrill' of smart@$$3d cheap shots or grade-school "humor"...
~~~~~~~~

HiTech RedNeck, perhaps you are the foremost of us to sense "a new [full-]salvational [God] consciousness on the horizon"...

I for one, would like to hear more of your thoughts on the subject, because I might feel led to join with you -- if I understood your viewpoint better.

But, in light of comments like #93, perhaps your thread needs to be moved into the Religion Forum...

I'll commit to re-visit all you've posted here -- to see if I can comprehend "where you're trying to go" better.

Let's "sleep on it" -- and, then, see if there is convergence ahead...

~~~~~~~~
TXnMA -- another 16-year FR "noob"...
E. All of the above.
It is a piece called Deteriorata, written by National Lampoon back in the ‘70s. Apologies if you found it offensive.
Not necessarily offended; just surprised that, after reading blueunicorn6's reaction -- that mine was so different...
Your apology wasn't really needed -- but, it was appreciated, FRiend!
I never saw SunkenCiv’s never trump comments. (I was a Cruz guy until Trump got into the race.) But current politics is not SunkenCiv’s core interests. His core interests are ancient civilizations. imho what he has contributed to conservative understanding on this board has been utterly profound. If you like, I’ll list them for you. I’m hesitant to do so because it just may not mean that much to you. Certainly I saw some of the posts that weighed against him —and I found them to be just ignorent.
Setting all that aside. Since the election is now over—imho would it not be appropriate to ask Jim to set aside the restrictions on SunkenCiv.
Honestly all the #nevertrumpers who have given up their hatred of Trump should be let back in. There’s almost none one left on the right who still thinks ill of the man. From my perspective the media did a number on a lot of people convinced them that Trump was something other than he is.
You don’t have to sell me. I know his contributions (archeological threads, et al) and I’d ping him to threads he might’ve missed so he’d keep them listed on his page.
I know he’s on another website, so you might contact him there and ask if he wants to return and see if some rapprochement can be made between him and JimRob.
