Trump wants to shake up the CIA
The New York Post ^ | January 4, 2017 | Chris Perez

Donald Trump is working on a plan that would restructure the CIA — cutting staff at the agency’s headquarters in Langley and moving more agents to field posts across the globe, a report says.

“The view from the Trump team is the intelligence world [is] becoming completely politicized,” a source close to the President-elect told the Wall Street Journal.

The insider is one of the few people familiar with Trump’s planning and said his advisers were also working to scale back the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, as well.

“They all need to be slimmed down,” the source said. “The focus will be on restructuring the agencies and how they interact.”

Some people who have been involved in the plan include Rep. Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.), who has already been chosen to serve as Trump’s CIA director, and his national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who served as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency until 2013.

While many Republicans have suggested revamping the ODNI — which was established in 2004 to aid communication between the intelligence agencies following 9/11 — the task has been difficult...

In the Navy I believe that's called a "shot across the bow."

The people insisting on these claims knew they were getting fired in a Trump administration anyway.

This smells like preemptive employee accusations.

This started percolating around the new sites earlier today and was posted here from zerohedge, fox, and now the compost all sourced to the WSJ. The echo chamber of this one story is an amazing case study in how Fake News propagates.

I personally doubt this entire story. The timing and content are just wrong on so many levels. I believe this is yet another one of those fake news stories designed to muddy the waters and whip up sentiment.

Just my .02cents worth.

Does it seem likely Trump will leave the agencies as they are?

The CIA needs a good broadside, not a warning shot. Decimation would only be a good start—losing 1 out of 10 positions isn’t enough. State should start at 50% and work upwards.

If the agency has developed a political mindset of who they want to promote and destroy, there needs to be a shakeup.

Yep. Drudge and The Sun tabloid rag did the same today turning a long planned NATO exercise into a “Obama is going to invade Russia” story today. The media fake news “telephone game” is getting totally out of control.

Brennan is Obama’s most loyal acolyte. He has permeated the CIA with Obama commissars. The Agency does nothing that does not correlate with the Obama narrative. The “intelligence” it generates is political fodder to advance or validate the Obama agenda. It will take much brutal effort to reform and restore this agency to what it once was.

Not only that, but Trump has articulated great displeasure with the current state of our intelligence capability. It’s beyond obvious he will act on this.

What would Thomas Jefferson, George Washington or James Madison do?

They’d go through Langley with the HR lady and fire 2 out of 3, after the top 5 were fired.

Then they would put a military man in charge.

I think we can actually thank Obama and the Dems for their ridiculous Russian hacking hysteria, since it so clearly demonstrated the politicization of the intelligence community that Trump is rightly objecting to.

I hope that the reforms include making all the 13 intelligence agencies concentrate on spying on foreigners instead of US citizens and companies and politicians. That would be a good change.

Would anyone put an assassination attempt beyond the CIA? I wouldn’t. I think they’ve done it here before.

First rule for shaking up the CIA...
Don’t say, “I’m gonna shake up the CIA.”
Color me skeptical.
