Thought Shooting this Trophy Buck was a Simple thing

Is it bad luck?, watch this hunter takes a couple shot at this huge 10-pointer, but as you can tell his rifle isn't zeroed in. The poor rabbit in the background got the butt-end of this as it goes flying.

Here is the hunter's explanation as to why both of his shots were so far off the mark and right on the rabbit. Here's the hunter's explanation:
"To make a long story short, my son dropped my rifle one week before this hunt and did not tell me it was dropped, after making two repetitive shots with custom loads, I knew it was not me. 15 minutes later, buck came back out and I had a chance to get my other gun from my truck and harvest him, however I did not film the fatal shot, but I have pictures. Please notice innocent bystander (rabbit) on the first shot. I was shooting a 7mm Magnum." See the video here.

The rabbit did a triple gainer with a half pike and stuck the landing. Score: 10!

It looks like the deer ducked just in time.

I bet he flew into that hunting camp and never bothered to check his gun zero after the baggage handling gorillas at the airport played volleyball with his bags.

Funny how such animals are considered “trophy” bucks when they are all over the place.

When my relatives from rural Eastern Washington came to visit, a favorite topic for discussion was always small animals that they had shot with powerful weapons. The bunny in question looked very intact as compared to the descriptions that I heard on many occasions. Which was typically, “Yeah, I blowed him up real good!” or something similar. These stories were good for loads of laughter, as each one tried to out do the other.

I took a rabbit with a hot .44 magnum rifle [a H+R Shikari], not only was his head gone as in vaporized, we couldn’t even find the ears—on plowed ground. It looked like he’d been decapitated with a machete! My buddy wised off by saying “You shoulda hit him a little lower, it woulda skinned and cleaned him at the same time!” Luncheon was served!

Funny, I’ve been living in this home for 20+ years. Not once have I seen a “trophy” buck.

for hunting you are responsible for your own weapon. you don’t take a second shot if you don’t know what is wrong with the rifle. i only tried turkey hunting and basically printed the shotgun with my scope at about 40 yards. i don;t thing dropping it would matter and you cant pattern the shotgun on any pa SGL shooting range. if i was hunting with a rifle i would check it prior to the hunt. just sayin.

I've seen a lot of WT deer in my life...

This deer is outside his ears...which maybe is 17 inches...He doesn't look that heavy....And maybe he is ten points..maybe.....

Just from the picture.....He doesn't score 140"
