Where and How to Hunt for Bucks as Seasons Get Cranking in September
With several deer hunting seasons in full swing in California, options are many for hunters, assuming one will fit our personal needs.
Not many of us own or have access to a 20,000-acre ranch in the B Zone (most of the North Coast from the border to the Bay Area) that is crawling with deer, hogs, coyotes, cats, game birds and snakes. Option two is to join an established annual dues hunting club that offers access to hunts behind locked gates (reservations for all hunts required). You generally have good property to hunt, though youre entirely on your own.
Number three might be a guided hunt, of which there are a few options. A fully outfitted hunt offers full-time guides, generally two to one, unless you kick in a few extra bucks to hunt one on one with Our trip to Washington to Deer hunta guide. They provide lodging, food, transportation, spot and stalk, blinds, in-field care, skinning, and in some cases even a walk-in cold box to hang your game. These are really the cats meow. Read the rest of the story here, where do you plan your hunt at?
Heck, those things sleep in my yard. Want a 12 point buck? Just pick one out, walk over, and pat him on the head.
Option Four might be to just stay at home.
Deer sleep in my yard and would eat all my flowers and shrubs if I had any since they have eaten all that I’ve planted. Even the ones in planters up on the porch.
Had an 8 pointer eating my wifes flowers on the back porch. He was absolutely fearless when it came to people. I shot him thru the dining room with a .45 from about 10 feet. Sure was good eating....but it did cost me a new window screen....red
I'd hate to be shot in the dining room... ;p
My wife yelled at me for shooting out the back door while she was gone.
The ejected empty on the kitchen floor was her clue.
We have 30 wooded acres that are a Big Buck Sanctuary. They should be ready to harvest in a few more years.
Until then, we’ll shoot across the fence at the neighbor’s deer. (JUST KIDDING!)
Deer have shown themselves in North Texas in the past two weeks. We’ve seen three roaming out back and sometimes a bit closer to our large window. The Deer Corn, apple flavor, is out there for their hunger pangs. It’s always a pleasure to see them. A young fawn, a stag and a doe.
That’s a good one.
Does the deer have any doe?
Yes, two bucks.....
Doe came stumbling out of the woods and said, “Well, that’s the last time I do that for two bucks.”
I like that one too!
“but it did cost me a new window screen”
I’ve put over a dozen .22 rounds through one of my screens, and to look at it, even closely, it would be hard to tell.
Well, can’t say they sleep in my front yard, but they sure have breakfast there - and our collie is BF with them.......live in 1,000 acres of hardwood forest......
Can’t believe how many others here have so many deer “at home” like we do......fantastic.
