Islam is not a religion. It is a totalitarian political system that imposes its own set of laws and would replace all the laws of this country, including the Constitution.

Like hell it is! It's an EVIL religion. I can understand not wanting any association of ISLAM with religion because ISLAM is evil . Religion is big and important enough it can take the hit. It spells out values. It sets out goals . When those values are good religion encourages the good. Islam is the most important example of how an evil leader can successfully hijack man's inherent need of religion and turn it into a juggernaut of hate and destruction.
