I agree it's easy to shoot and reliable but I'd take the accuracy of the AR platform over it any day.

That’s a 74 in the picture not a 47.
And AK’s do not fire from the bolt open position.

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was amazed at how loose everything was and yet it worked consistently. OTOH, that is part of its reputation - it keeps on working no matter what because the tolerances are so loose.

That was scary! And noisy. And very stressful. And what's with all those mechanical thingies bouncing around and clattering? And I bet those earplugs coming out the front part could hurt someone.
I'm going to my safe space now to recover.

I’m amazed at the parts that bounce and clatter around in the slow motion video. That includes rounds bouncing into the chamber. Amazing that they work so well.
I have semi-auto versions. One Norinco MAK 90 and a Bulgarian milled-receiver. Fun to shoot.

Man I love AKs. It's pretty amazing that the short pulse in the gas block is enough to cycle the action. The gas tube really just guides the piston back into the block (you can see it bump in it when he fired it without the gas tube).
Awesome video. It's amazing they work as reliably as they do, and that's what they're known for.
