I wanted to make a prayer request and also help spread the word that August is Short Bowel Syndrome Awareness Month

Jaxson is waiting for a bowel and liver transplant, He missed out once about a year ago because he was sick when the organs were available. She got the pre-call again after that and organs went to a closer recipient instead. It is such a hard prayer to make, knowing asking for him to get what he needs means some other family has lost their beloved child...

Jaxson Turned 3 in April, he was born 2+ months early with his bowels outside his body and only had 8 cm of viable bowel left after initial surgery. He had one operation at about 18 months that stretched it, The bowel had grown some by that point but just not enough to stretch to avoid a future transplant... He has been in and out of the hospital his whole life now and has lived on TPN nutrients that is pumped directly into his bloodstream through a central line, which as I understand it is the primary reason they transplant the liver with the bowels. The only thing that changes is sometimes he was unhooked for a few hours during the day. He also has a feeding tube for small amounts of formula, pedialite etc. He wont take anything by mouth and the assumption is the bad taste the TPN nutrients give anything that goes into his mouth. For the past few weeks he has been in the hospital again and now latest that my Daughter is told, he may not get out and come back home again until he goes directly to have the transplant done. I think he has been added to multiple lists now that he has reached 3 years old and his situation has became more dire instead of just a single primary one in Pittsburg that specialized in infants... Anyway, just asking if you would Keep Jaxson, My daughter Katie and our Family in your prayers and also ask you to help spread the word of how some possible good can come from the tragity of a childs senseless death by allowing them to give life by donating their organs.

I have a friend that has a little daughter that has endured a very similar issue. She was treated at Johns Hopkins and has progressed very well and living a full life. I hope that they can locate a Jaxson’s donor soon and help your precious lil grandson.
