Americans today say they are generally optimistic about their futures, according to Gallup polling. But one group in particular -- poor white Americans -- has a shockingly dismal view of what the future holds for them. And this pessimism among poor whites goes a long way toward explaining the strange political moment we find ourselves in, one in which Donald Trump surged to the top of the Republican primary ticket by tapping into a deep vein of racial anxiety among the nation's working class.
Carol Graham, a happiness researcher at the Brookings Institution, recently analyzed Gallup's data on life satisfaction and found that when it comes to their outlook on the future, the most desperate groups are poor and near-poor whites.
Gallup asks people to rate their current lives on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst possible life they could be living and 10 is the best. Crucially, they also ask people to imagine what their lives will look like five years in the future.
Among the poor, whites are the demographic group least likely to imagine a better future for themselves, Graham found. Poor Hispanics were about 30 percent more likely to imagine a better future than poor whites. The difference for poor blacks was even larger: They were nearly three times as likely to imagine a better future than poor whites....

I have a 72 year old husband who *always* had a long waiting list for trike kits and for the last 7 years [what a coincidence] we’re lucky to have 2 or 3 a year.
And people tell us exactly why they cannot afford them.
I have *never* seen him so down.

I recently gave a poor, white man a car because he was having hard times but got a job and had no transportation. He was telling me how bad it was and I told him that life is tough and you just have to be tougher. I am where I am now because of years of hard times that I overcame with hard work and perseverance.
I would say that he tapped into a deep vein of sanity in today's insane liberal dominated world. 'Cuz I'm not poor by any means, by what virtue of my own I couldn't say unless it be steadiness, and Trump appears to me as a Shining Light at this hour. And as I've said before, I never even liked the guy!

Vocal majority? Whites won’t be a majority for very much longer, just a minority with laws its leaders wrote to give everyone else a leg up. Self-imposed discrimination...

I went to get my moms thyroid prescription refilled today it has gone from 5.00 through tri care for life to 35.00 in one month!!! What the hell is going on my thyroid prscription was 9.00 with my insurance and is now 40.00 is this the insurance companies or the pharma companies????

There have been such an influx of immigrants to the state of Georgia in the last 5 years that the Pubbies are VERY worried about the state turning blue if not this cycle the next one will for sure be a battle ground state!!! This is unforgivable that our side has let this happen!!!!
