The Transgender Talk I Never Thought I'd Have with My 6-yr Old Son
Righting on the wall ^ | Kim D

Posted on 05/16/2016 10:30:40 AM PDT by mainestategop

On Friday I shared why I was feeling a bit bitchy, bigoty, and conflicted click hereAs a basic recap, my son's kindergarten class had a new intern last week: a male who appears to be transgendering, in desperate need of a training bra, and wearing drag-queen quality makeup. Writing the post on Friday was cathartic, and I had basically come to the conclusion that my son would probably not notice the things I did about the new intern and that any discussion on my part would be more harmful than helpful.

I was wrong. He did notice it and brought it up Friday afternoon during a play date with his little "girlfriend." The kids had been swimming and while drying off were sitting at the kitchen table playing a round of Monopoly Junior. Halfway through the game, my son excused himself to the restroom and then reappeared sans swimsuit and sporting just a pair of shorts. I told him he needed to put on a shirt, to which he asked why - his friend wasn't wearing one. She was wearing her swimsuit; however, arguing with a 6 year old can be futile, and I told him simply a boy doesn't walk around shirtless in front of girls.

I ended my decree with saying basically "girls dress like girls, and boys dress like boys - put on a shirt." However, he came back with his own logic: "Not all the time - sometimes boys dress like girls." I was startled and asked why he thought that. He said, "You know like the guy who painted my foot today at school - he dresses like a girl." [The intern had been helping the kids with a project to make hand and foot prints on pillowcases.]

So he did notice. I changed the subject and ended the discussion in front of his friend; however, later we had "the talk." It was short and sweet because my son said no way he was ever going to wear makeup, to which I said he never had to unless he decided to become an actor or it was Halloween and he wanted to wear makeup.

But I did explain that there are some men, although very few, who do like to dress like women and wear makeup. I ended with telling him he nor I may truly understand why this young men liked to dress this way; however, one thing was clear. Wearing makeup was how he felt comfortable and that we didn't have to understand it but could respect it. Basically, I told him to have the attitude of "you do you and let me do me" and we can all get along well in this world.

I fell into the political correctness trap in a way because my son is too vocal and has a frail filter when it comes to sharing his opinion about things. Had I told him the way the intern was dressing is wrong, which I believe it is wrong to force his preference on young innocent children, there is a good chance he would have returned to school this morning and confronted the intern, perhaps resulting in a visit with the principal, something we have miraculously avoided so far this year.

Excellent point. Children should not have to deal with all these gay and transgendered issues.

So now, we are having to explain to children that while most people have a mother and father, that there are “gay” people who love someone of the same sex. So some kids technically legally may have two mothers, etc.

And now with this trans stuff, we are being compelled to explain that some people feel they are the wrong sex and all that this implies.

All of this is hard to explain to elementary age children. yet this is where our culture and education system are at.

if you see the wrong person in the bathroom, that person is likely half crazy

I'd say you're likely half right :-)

Agree with you 100%. Those unfortunate people are not well. We understand mental illness but don’t respect it. We have empathy for the person in its clutches.

Wow, you would have thought she would have been pleased that he had such a strong moral compass.

Everyone is trying desperately not to rock the boat and talk about the elephants in the room. If you use the bible as your compass sooner or later you will offend someone. Right and wrong have given way to nice & inclusive. Civilization will not survive with nice & inclusive. Luckily there is Trump, who has a child’s ability to spot naked emperors and call them out. Can’t wait!

Good for you! My household is like that. I home school my son, I don't need TV since I have the Internet. The kids aren't allowed to use it without supervision. I do have filters but we don't take chances.

I actually had a talk with my son about tranny folks a couple weeks ago after we saw one of them in downtown Boston. Ugliest creature I ever saw, five a clock shadow, blond hair, leather jacket, sandals (it was cold outside too,) Blue women's jeans. I didn't think my son would notice then he says, "Hey Dad! Why does that man look funny?" We almost burst out laughing. I told him he was crazy and when we got home we talked about it.

I simply told them that some men think they're women, some women think they're men. They're crazy and disturbed and maybe dangerous. If you see one, don't talk to them like any other stranger just get away.

My son BTW is six years old going on seven. I think its sad that I have to have this kind of talk at this day and age about not only drugs but about queers and freaks.

I can’t agree more.

My 6 yr. old great niece asked me one day why adult boys talk like little girls. Evidently the church school invited some players in a play nearby to come give a little performance during school. The boys in the play talked like girls and were supposed to make them laugh...ugh. I told her that real boys talk like her dad and uncles!

I am familiar with this movie. I'd say were pretty much at that stage with Barack Hussein Obama. Idiocracy, Americathon, Gone with the wind, they will never ever come close to portraying America as it is now in real life.

When I started blogging 8 years ago and when I first began to get out into the world to research how messed up America has become, how bad things really are it blows my mind.

Blogging for me is like an adventure. I have visited different cities, gone to different places tried stuff out, I was homeless for two weeks in Seattle to see what that was like, I took part in the tea party and free state movement, I went to occupy wall street, the antiwar movement, these other places and I can only conclude that we have gone beyond that.

How we get out? Voting for Trump is a start but isn't enough. It has to be bottom to top not top to bottom. We need a revival in our nation first, then we need to stand up to the multinational corporations, the left wing media, the whole system and demand change.

Never ever underestimate strong public will. Even a minority can make radical changes. It took only 2% of the population (atheists) to expel God from school and secularize America within a decade. It took another decade and another small percentage to make homosexuality okay and not even close to that much to make America into a secular totalitarian state.

With that in mind it can be done if we have the initiative and courage to do what is right.

I’ve always been very straight forward with my kids.

Homosexuality is a mental disorder. Many times it’s the result of sexual abuse. Sometimes the cause is completely non-sexual in nature.

But “accepting” a homosexual’s illness only legitimizes their dementia and condemns them to further suffering.

A month ago or so the talk I had with my 7 year old. I told him that if kisses his elbow, he will turn into a girl. I then caught him trying to do it and teased him mercilessly.

Ahhh good parenting.

Indeed. My seven year old was on an approved site, LEGO.COM. The idiots there now allow uploaded videos. When my wife heard certain words, she rushed in. Fortunately, with no context it meant nothing to him (for my kids, an "ass" is only a donkey, and apparently in public they've heard of donkeys getting stuck in holes. "Sex" means the quality of being "male" or "female" as in "The opposite sex".) How can LEGO be SO STUPID?

Why the hell would anyone tell their son that? That's like telling my son if he plays on the stairs his growth will be stunted. My own mother did that to me and it made me a nervous wreck until I was 14!

No... Just tell it like it is.

Feeling bigoty? Really? Seeing someone who is mentally ill and knowing it, is not bigoty. You should never allow your child to be around these types of people.

The right reaction would be "I went to the principal's office the next day to inform him my son would be withdrawn from the school".

This is all about sexualizing children. They are being denied an innocent youth, and forced to deal with things they shouldn’t.

Correct. My first reaction to this article was: "Why is this person in a classroom with 6 year olds?" I refuse to get on this crazy train that has developed in our culture; but, as a society, shouldn't we be letting children have their childhood without exposing them to this nonsense?

Actually, if you follow the news, you will see that many of the most outrageous violations of First Amendment rights are in Texas - especially, but not exclusively, in the public schools.
This is why the Feds took over education: to force its way on the True Blue (so-called Red) States.
They already conquered the commie states. Texas is their Number One target, because of its electoral numbers and its border contiguity.

The son was just forced to participate in the sex life of a cross dresser.

Arrest that cross dresser for pedophilia and then sue him for sexual harassment.
