Civil Rights Group Says Park Rangers’ Uniforms Are ‘Threatening’ To Latinos For ABSURD Reason By Jeff Rainforth

A coalition of lawmakers and civil rights groups has a message for the National Park Service: your uniforms and vehicles are “very threatening” to Latinos.

Maite Arce of the Hispanic Access Foundation delivered the “really tough” message during a press conference on Thursday:

“It’s such a shame that something as simple as the uniform and it’s similarity to the border patrol’s uniform — in the coloring — could be very threatening to certain segments of the Latino population. So a discussion about that is going to be really tough.”

The coalition made multiple recommendations to the Park Service, including:

Assess the cultural implications of existing agency uniforms, offices, signage, and other facilities. For example, the Park Service law-enforcement vehicles look like those used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and uniforms have law enforcement connotations, both of which present a significant impediment to engaging all Americans.

Review names of sites throughout system for cultural bias. Some may require comprehensive name changes to reflect a broader and more inclusive history.

The coalition is asking President Obama to issue an executive order directing the Department of Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to “adopt guiding priorities for a more inclusive approach to National Parks.”

Illegals need to go home... they’re not welcome.

Even Bernie Sanders agrees: https://www.numbersusa.com/blog/bernie-sanders-just-spoke-intro-my-gumballs-video

Immigrants we choose to invite ARE welcome. NOT ILLEGALS. It’s the difference between a guest in your home you welcome and thief you want OUT OF YOUR HOME.

Most Americans resent the hell out of people who take our jobs, keep wages low, vote as a bloc for one party and bring their violent corrupt culture with them. Go home to your hellhole - don’t bring your hellhole to us. Fix your own corrupt country... don’t run to ours and turn it into a corrupt version of the place you left.

Maybe illegals are afraid of people in uniforms BECAUSE they know they’ve broken the law.

Is high immigration a policy the United States should use as a humanitarian response to help the poor of the world?

Bernie Sanders shocked a lot of journalists and other immigration expansionists this week by indicating that the answer is NO.

Some of his statements could be used as an intro to my so-called “Gumballs Video” which has been watched in various versions by millions since the first recording in 1996. Here is the most recent version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPjzfGChGlE

What makes me furious is the way liberals and Democrats say we’re a nation of immigrants. True. But not illegal entry Dreamers who take and don’t give back. They’re here to soak up our goodness and generosity at the expense of the taxpaying working Americans.

The strength of Ametica use to be its melting pot.

If folks want to bring their turf world country here then they should stay where they are

If they want to assimilate and come legally they are welcome

My property borders a National Park. Park employees are some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. I have yet to meet a Park Ranger who wasn’t a total horses ass. No I haven’t got a ticket or had trouble with a ranger so that is not my reason for this statement. In general just meeting one I have found them to be cop wannabes, dangerous in their behavior and personalities of Cartman, You will respect my authority peasant.

I have a relative who is a real life cop with 30 years experience. A few years back he was traveling through the local national park after a long shift and out of the blue this Ranger jumps out in the middle of the road in front of him and holds up his hand and commands him to HALT! My relative stood up on the brakes to keep from hitting this lunatic and skidded by the Ranger who decided that the laws of physics be damned you shall stop where I say you stop peasant and started to draw his gun, wrong move on a police officer.

My relative came out of his vehicle in full uniform and I quote “you stupid bast*rd just exactly what are you going to do with that when you clear leather”? He said another ranger appeared within seconds and my relative proceeded to curse them out and tell them if they are going to play cops to learn how to do a proper traffic stop before they get themselves killed! He got in his truck and drove off leaving them standing in the middle of the road blinking like frogs in a hail storm.

Like frogs in a hail storm? LOVE the analogy! :)

This is why I think regular people should run the parks. If police work is needed then have a properly trained but small police force that could be dressed as cops and called “Park Rangers” .

I find it insane that there is a Park Ranger giving “Ski with the Park Ranger” tours at ski resorts located on federal land. Docents should be doing this and they should look like and dress like ordinary people.

That is the first time I've seen Asian Indians referred to as the “Dots”. Very apt. I like it.

As for your post, I agree.

IQ probably has something to do with it, as well. Higher IQ people enjoy exploring.and are curious I think it might be an interesting study to evaluate the IQ of Americans who visit the nations’s federal and state parks. It is likely a standard deviation or two above normal.

Park Rangers are law enforcement federal Agents.

Usually we see the brain-dead fluffy incompetents in the national parks.

The “real” Park Rangers in the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico are bad-azzes. The Border Patrol Agents respect those line Rangers and they cover each other when needed.

Like the Border Patrol, they are operating far from back-up and face violent drug runners and human smugglers.

Post 23 and 48.

My experience (and my son. . .a Border Patrol Agent) differs from your experience.

Being afraid of getting caught with all those stolen pic-a-nic baskets anything but an "absurd reason."

If we assume that overuse and overcrowding are damaging the national parks, wouldn't a little discouraging visitors be a good thing?

The point of my first post was that the “bad-azzes” Rangers should continue to look like the law enforcement professionals that they are.

Those managing the routine functioning of the park shouldn't.

Why? Because in art we have an expression “Everything is Nothing”. When everyone looks likes a cop then no one looks like a cop. Best to keep the two groups looking very difference one from the other.

I use dots to differentiate from the other “Indians” (feathers).
I think IQ has a whole lot to do with it.

Always thought game wardens have it tough too. Most people they come across, including those they may have to cite, are armed.
