Other article didn’t say anyone was fired on but that residents in the area heard shots, claimed “assault rifles” were being fired.
Claimed the men were wearing “turbans” which sounds more like Sikhs if that’s the case.

Not a state park in this case: “...Sgt. David Rodriguez - one of several officers who responded to the scene - said people shoot guns in the area “all the time” since part of it is in Bureau of Land Management territory - where you can shoot shotguns - and another part is in a portion of the San Bernardino National Forest where recreational shooting is permitted....”

One of the posters at the linked sources mentioned it might be a trial run to measure the response time of local authorities.

FWIW, the Sheriff’s Deputies are stretched very thinly. Something like 2 deputies to cover a 80mile x 50 mile area over about 10 townships.

Another poster had reported snipers in Joshua Tree Natl Park on the preceding night and morning tracking campers and families. That would be about 30-50 miles south of this incident off the same state highway.

So many different stories. Per Pam's, this is a terror cell, that's not known. It took place in a state park, that's unclear but if true I can't believe there weren't sound and discharge violations and interestingly

It is unclear if any weapons were located in the possession of the suspects. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman, Olivia Bozek said, “The deputies detained the subjects and from what I was told they are going to be transported to the High Desert Detention Center. I do not know what charges they are going to be booked for.”

Unclear if weapons in their possession? And this would seem to imply they will face charges.
