Trump's View of Women v. Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton

Posted on 01/19/2016 3:54:55 PM PST by Be Careful

Today I had a thought...Just sayin'...It seems all alpha males tomcat around. In Trump's case, he has chosen incredibly strong women who thought more of themselves to give him the boot, rather than to stick around for the money and become enablers. This tells me something about his choice in mates, which, although 3 times married, he has chosen women very different than the pathetic profiles of Jackie, Lady Byrd and Hillary.....not making excuses, just an observation.

“He has chosen incredibly strong women who thought more of themselves to give him the boot,”

I wasn’t aware that any of his divorces involved cheating. Is that factual or did you just assume its true?

Serial monogamist, rich playboy or cheating spouse...

That his exes don't hate him doesn't make him a faithful or good husband.

It does say something about how he feels about vows and promises before God and man.

Different times, different generations. The women Donald married didn't feel obligated to stay with the man they married no matter what, but I don't think you could say Marla Maples was "incredibly strong."

She wouldn't be much of a match in any kind of combat with Jackie or Lady Bird or Hillary or even Eleanor Roosevelt. Society ladies back then might have looked like doormats, but that's because they cared about money, power, and position, not what their men were doing on the side.

No, it just means they signed a settlement agreement that seriously punishes negative press, so they keep their yaps shut and get their nice fat safe monthly checks.

Trump has exes who like him. That's news.

Something about this thread is asking how conservatives and Christians can rationalize a person divorced twice and married three times. It is a thorny issue for many.

According to what I’ve read, Trump was having an affair with Marla Maples which figured into his divorce from Ivana, the mother of his three grown children. His first marriage lasted 15 years. His second marriage to Marla lasted 5 years and produced his daughter Tiffany who is now in university.

He started seeing Melania after his divorce from Marla. Donald and Melania have been together around 18 years and married more than 10. They have a 9-year-old son; and their marriage gives every appearance of being stable, loving and with mutual respect. In my opinion, he has finally found a pleasing combination of looks, brains and compatibility.

The date info was gleaned from Wikipedia. My opinion of his current marriage is based on observations of media interviews of both Mr and Mrs Trump.

Most of us who are not billionaires cannot afford to try again and again with marriage until we get it right. Those of us raised Christian have moral objections to divorce; yet many of us are divorced and remarried at least once, even many Caltholics.

IIRC, Reagan was our first divorced and remarried president. Kennedy took a different approach, as did FDR.

What is true for Christians is that we are living in a fallen world, and as Americans, we are living with a sexualized, trashy media culture and under attack by ideologues in the left wing and media establishment with a stated intent to destroy the natural family, traditional marriage, Chrisitanity and even the natural sexes and methods of childbirth. it is difficult to come to terms with how far we have fallen as a nation and how much destruction needs to be bulldozed out of the way if a restoration of traditional values could take place.

This is the space in which a warrior chieftain is able to run for the construction boss job and whose personal life does not presently appear to be hindering his energies. Rather, his current family life seems to be freeing his energies. This may be why his supporters are able to tolerate his past, if it means electing his skills.

I certainly don’t hold the fact that he’s been married three times against him; been there, done that, although not of my choosing. I think the fact that he has a cordial relationship with his ex-wives an that they seem to speak well of him says quite a bit about his character.
