Thirteen words and phrases--including "so" and "problematic"--have been banished from the English language because of their mis-use, over-use and general uselessness.
The banishment was pronounced by a committee at Lake Superior State University, which has been banning words from English for forty-one years. [...]
The statement went on: "Overused words and phrases are 'problematic' for thousands of Queen's English 'stakeholders,'" said an LSSU spokesperson while 'vaping' an e-cigarette during a 'presser.' "Once something is banished, there's no 'walking it back;' that's our 'secret sauce,' and there's no 'price point' for that." ...

“It’s a beautiful thing, the Destruction of words. Of course the great wastage is in the verbs and adjectives, but there are hundreds of nouns that can be got rid of as well. It isn’t only the synonyms; there are also the antonyms. After all, what justification is there for a word, which is simply the opposite of some other word? A word contains its opposite in itself. Take ‘good,’ for instance. If you have a word like ‘good,’ what need is there for a word like ‘bad’? ‘Ungood’ will do just as well—better, because it’s an exact opposite, which the other is not. Or again, if you want a stronger version of ‘good,’ what sense is there in having a whole string of vague useless words like ‘excellent’ and ‘splendid’ and all the rest of them? ‘Plusgood’ covers the meaning or ‘doubleplusgood’ if you want something stronger still. Of course we use those forms already, but in the final version of Newspeak there’ll be nothing else. In the end the whole notion of goodness and badness will be covered by only six words—in reality, only one word. Don’t you see the beauty of that, Winston? It was B.B.’s idea originally, of course,” he added as an afterthought. (1.5.23, Syme)
By curtailing frivolous and “fighting” words, the Party seeks to narrow the range of thought altogether, such that eventually, thoughtcrime will be literally impossible.
What is so problematic is there are words on their list I never heard of:
What is “prince point” (no, not “Price point”)?
What “manspreading”?
“Friend raising”?
And who the heck ever heard of that college?
You know, it's (so problematic it is) past due time to remove all these dumb annual 'factoids' that the MSM uses as compost filler while the real scumbag journolists party away the New Year on Fire Island ...
In all seriousness, the MSM doesn't want to acknowledge this is part of Trump's appeal - he has a brilliant and absolute disregard for jourolistism.
How about banning inappropriate phrases?
Like ‘White Privilege’.
The only appropriate us of it is with Hitlery’s husband.
So this is gonna be problematic for me.
I am all in for banishing “problematic”.
But it is not nearly as overdone and overworked as “existential”, as in “existential threat”. Politicians love that one, because they think it makes them sound intelligent.
I’d vote for banning; high fives, fist bumps and “My bad” !
Maybe we’re just not interested in fighting back, yet.
Sooooo progressive, except when it comes to language.
Absolutely “my bad” has got to go.
Is this satire? It’s hard to tell these days...

You forgot “husband” and “wife”
I have this friend from London that used to come to the States for work on a regular basis.
He would never hesitate, in his liberal UK elitist way, to denigrate the US. He particularly liked attacking how Americans have destroyed the Queens English.
I always enjoyed pointing him to his own backyard and having him admit the reality that in many parts of the UK, his Queens English is unintelligible.
Sick of ‘opening up’
How about banning “just saying”, “at the end of the day”, “you go girl”, and “win-win”.
Democrat ..... ban that word.
