Richard doesn't get out on the town much. He has been confined to a wheelchair since hip surgery in 2009 that he says went awry. Here's how he explained it last summer in a rare public appearance, at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon hosted by the National Museum of African American Music: "I came to Nashville to see my sister. I bought a home for me and her here in the hills. And I went in for surgery on my hip. I was walking on my way in but I couldn't walk out. The hip surgery was really bad for me. I haven't walked since. I'm in pain twenty-four hours a day. I have never seen nothing like it."

Didn’t he become a Christian?
Gephart?
I had both hips replaced, one in July and the other 4 weeks ago. It’s been a total success and I could not be happier with the outcome. Before the surgery I was painfully crutch-bound for two years. Today I’m walking normally and shopping for a tennis racket.
The one time I met Little Richard was in a snowstorm on a mountain road between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.
I was a chain installer and happened to be the lucky guy that got his limousine when it pulled up.
After a few minutes of me working away his girls in the back of the limousine got interested in me and invited me in where they were smoking a joint and having a few mixed drinks and a general good time.
One was a beautiful blonde, with a redhead and an Asian gal that were obviously there for his personal comforts I did partake in a couple of shots of whiskey and after a while they were on their way ...me left with a story to tell of which I’m only telling you part.
he was a cool guy that seemed willing to share the shirt off of his back and other things never will forget
Glad we didn’t play this version for my granddaughter the other day.
I introduced her (age 10) to Little Richard singing “Good Golly Miss Molly”, “Tutti Fruity” and “All Around the World” (with a film clip from “Explorers” featuring the space creature singing it in outer space. Really cool scene.
I gave her a little information about his role as one of the “Godfather’s of Rock and Roll”.
Saw him, Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis on the same bill at Wolf Trap Park, Vienna, Va about 10 years ago. Little Richard, dressed in a long white fur-lined cape, stole the show and the audience despite a great performance by Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry (who didn’t like LR very much).
I was also fortunate enough to take my daughter to see Ray Charles in the early 2000’s because I wanted her to see one of the greats of R&R. She loved him.
And my other trio of Blues and R&R were B.B. King, Clarence Carter and Bobby Blue Bland on the same bill at DAR Constitution Hall in the 90’s. Talk about rocking the house.
There are so few musicians/singers today who can come even close to what Rock & Roll (Do Whoop, R&B, and Honky Tonk) gave us in the late 40’s, esp. 50’s.
“Rock and rock will never die, it will live forever”!
And as Chuck Willis (C.C. Rider) sang the other day on the radio, “Putting my dancing shoes on”!!!
How sad. About hip and knee surgeries, a friend who works at a rehab facility said you won’t believe the number of people who come in saying they feel worse after their surgery.
I asked a man standing on the sideline who that guy was, and he told me it was little Richard.
Little Richard — Amazing talent and energy!
Yikes. He was a pervert.
My man, age 66, just had a new hip put in last year. He was diligent with his post-op physical therapy and walks like a young man now. I can’t understand why a rich man like Little Richard wouldn’t get the best surgeon and come out of it well.
Also, I had to listen when my dad wasn't around too, ha, ha.
I was in the 7th grade when I first heard Tutti-Fruity. I still remember it.
My father had a hip replacement. He was walking around the ward same day. Got grief from the docs and nurses. Didn’t care.
Note: As far as I can tell, Dad is immune to pain. For reasons I won’t get into, he walked around for over a year with no cartilage in that side of his hip. And played golf. Most people would have been bed ridden.
Sad to hear Little Richard’s operation did not go as well. Prayers for him and his. (Despite what the NYT and other left idiot outlets say, prayers do matter.)
FTC
I was told - never saw it so can’t confirm it - that one time on Johnny Carson, Johnny asked him what he attributed his success to. Little Richard responded with a couple of platitudes and then added, “...and I could scream like a white woman!”
Most rap music has lyrics that make this look like a lullaby.
I like GnR and some of their lyrics are pretty bad too.
my how times have changed.
Knee and hip surgeries are what they are and there are no guarantees of the outcomes.........
I play softball with a lot of seniors who have had such surgeries as well as rotator cuff surgeries and the results of all of them vary from successfull to mediocre to needing further surgeries..........
Contrary to popular belief, it's not a guaranteed science but more a luck of the draw...........
Praise God! Thanks ob.
