With yesterday's elections, the speculation of voter turnout for 2016 has started. On another thread, a question was posted postulating that election results in certain areas might improve democrat voter turnout. I have been contemplating this and would like feedback on some thoughts and theories.
Reagan's landslide came after Carter. Many democrats voted for Reagan because, among other things, Carter was a dissaster by most objective measurements. I knew folks (lifelong democrats) that, to this day, don't want to talk about whether or not they voted for Carter. But a lot of democrats simply didn't show up to vote. Ambivalence or secret disgust?
Bush won after Clinton. I know life long democrats that cringe when you bring up Lewinsky.
I already know liberals and democrats that, when asked about regrets for voting for Obama, go into excuse mode, deflect or obfuscate to avoid any accountability for his election and subsequent performance. I do not know any democrats, personnally, that will claim Obama is a "good President".
Theory:
Most moderate democrats do not want to debate the merits of Obama's presidency. As the failures and scandals mount, I think they are exhausted. And before Hillary is even ordained, they must start with a defense of her character and record.
The Black Vote turnout may fall considerably in 2016. What has Obama done for African Americans? Free phones? Free Healthcare? House payments? I don't see black leaders praising and lauding Obama much these days. I think the luster is gone and reality has set in. Add to that the Democratic Party's pivot to loving on the latino community and ignoring their precious 95% voting block of "African decent", and I think the African American voters are also somewhere between apathetic and disenfranchised with politics in general. I do not believe this means the balance of the black vote changes more favorable by % to the Republican candidate. But I doubt there is excitement for Hillary or any other candidate. Could it be "fool me twice"? In general, the hopes for Obama are gone along with the snake oil they bought. Are they feeling betrayed yet?
There may be some democrats that switch parties, or have awakened to the democrat/liberal agenda. But I am expecting a pretty low voter turnout from democrats. Maybe I am hoping. The takers in our country now outnumber the providers. Low democrat voter turnout is likely our only hope. Obama has imported voters and collected millions of dependents to support and vote for more free stuff.
Therefore:
I would like to see a massive advertising campaign push to remind America what DEMOCRATS have accomplished and destroyed in our nation over the last 8 years. The GOP should work to help shame the loyal democrat voters. Keep them in a corner defending or claiming the greatness of Obama, Hillary, etc. Of course, attack Hillary's record and beat the Constitution and American Exceptionalism to death. But overall, subliminarily, we need to discourage democrats from voting, not just simply try and win some over. I think they are already half way there.
Yes, they will show up, many of them twice.
Doesn’t matter.
They still have the cemataries.
Dead? Check.
Illegals? Check.
Stupid College-age Hipsters? Check.
Cartoon Characters? Check.
With all those voting blocs, who needs humans to show up at the polls?
Corruption will prevail. Think about Hillary’s track record. She will be emboldened by 0bama’s history of corruption and immunity. The democrats will vote multiple times without “showing up”.
Illegal aliens are being imported by the millions and they will be registered to vote and will vote as often as necessary, regardless of the illegality of their votes.
Those are now correctly described as Postmortum Voters.
Oh they will show up alright ... but hopefully the minority of Democrats who contribute rather than take from our society and the minority of Democrats who love this country will not vote for the Democrat Socialist candidates.
Even the dead ones will vote.
Yes, both dead and alive.
Voter ID laws passed in many states since 2008 will help.
Minorities will not line up to vote for Hillary anywhere near how they did for Obamugabe.
"White Guilt" liberals will also not have their incentive to vote.
Wisconsin showed that the right candidate can overcome the Democrat voting machine. Scott Walker had EVERYTHING thrown at him yet still came out on top.
They may show up to vote for Donald Trump.
And I say that as an undecided voter in the Republican primary since my first choice, Scott Walker, is out.
I’ve had to drive my mother to a doctor’s office an hour south of my location. I’ve been amazed at the fact that I’ve ONLY SEEN BERNIE SANDERS BUMPER STICKERS. Not a single one for Hillary. This area might as well be San Francisco, it’s so left. But that has really surprised me.
If Republicans can drive home the point that character matters, we may get a lot of dems to stay home.
And the video of Hillary shrieking about speaking ‘truth to power’ would also help men to make up their minds. Who wants to listen to that voice for the next 4-8 years?!
They only need to win in a few key states and counties, so look for the shenanigans occurring there. Esp FL and OH.

The Dem machine and related entities will scare the crap out of them with some race-baiting (hence the Black Labs, err, uh, Lives Matter bs), now the charges of sexism, etc. Fearmongering among the ignorant always works, its just a question of how well. Hopefully she picks an old whitey for Veep, so the blacks stay home in swing states.
But, to confirm your thesis, a lot of Dems WILL stay home. I recently spoke with one very liberal (socially) guy (who is a gun enthusiast - don’t ask me to understand that dichotomy) who told me that there is no way in Hell that he’d vote for Hillary. Ditto for an old liberal beotch that my mother knows who constantly defends Obama - she also claims that she’ll stay home. So the effect is real. I don’t give a damn if they admit what they’ve done, ask forgiveness for Obama or whatever - just stay home on election day.
I am more optomististic. The GOPe has been attempting to keep a very low profile, because just like you, they read the tea leaves and made the comparisons between Carter/Reagan and Clinton/Bush.
The establishment is convinced that if they just don't do anything controversial like “shut down the government” that they will easily elect one of their chosen.
But as usual with these elite political consultant types, they play it safe to an extreme and lack vision and creativity. They could easily blow this opportunity by nominating Jeb!
In addition, my optimism is fueled by the prospect of running against HRC. She is easily one of the most inept and unlikable people on the planet. She is incredibly vulnerable.
I am predicting that Donald Trump will be the nominee and will liquefy the witch in one of the most lopsided victories in history.
The road is tough, but we can do it with the right candidate.
What’ll make things tight: the electorate is going to be another 2% less white than last time around. So our nominee doesn’t have to make-up only Romney’s margins from 2012 - he’ll also have to make-up a little bit more from these new invader-voters.
If Hillary starts with Kerry’s states, she only needs a few more.. we’re going to need a nominee who is tough as nails, one who can drive base turnout through the roof.
It’s racist to make Dem voters go to the polls or fill out absentee ballots, so their votes will be automatically cast for them by the righteous fighters for equality in the Obama administration.
