IT was meant to be a joke but it probably cost a man his life.
Tony Harris, a 50-year-old electronics repairman, posted a picture on Facebook of his fiancee Amber Crane holding hundreds of dollar notes.
I misplaced $60,000.00. I hope my wife didnt go shopping with it, Harris joked in the caption.
A week later three masked men entered his home in Kingsessing, a suburb in the southwest of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and demanded the money, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Even if he did something unwise, it’s sad it had to play out this way. Hope they get the bastard responsible.
Just one more thing not to do...
“[Police] said the stacks of cash were simply piles of $1 bills with $20 bills on top to make them appear to be more valuable.”
Was the deceased a male stripper? Sad though leaving a family behind. I’m always amazed when I get on my wife’s FB to keep up with things and all the posts about being on vacation, etc.
In before jackasses here bray he deserved it for being #darwinawardwinner
Is his Family suing Facebook?
Democrats think Firearm Manufacturers should be sued if someone is Murdered by a Perp using a Gun, right?
I think you’ve got a point
Never use your real name or location on FB.
Even if you have to go to extreme lengths to get by them when they “insist” you do.
Dittos to both of you.
RIP to the victim.
Rot in hell to the demons that took his life. I hope they get theirs sooner rather than later.
Common sense dictates never reveal too much information about yourself into cyberspace...why would a person flaunt this kind of issue? Hope his killers are caught, drawn and quartered and then offered up for pig feed.
Anyone with an ounce of intelligence should’ve known the man’s Facebook post was a joke. Now the killers have taken a father from his children. May they be caught and justice served.
RIP, Mr. Harris.
Police will have a good start on leads. It was likely one of his Facebook “friends”, or at least one of them knows who is responsible. Cutting the leads from several million in the Philly area to a few thousand at most is a good start for the police.
Hope his killers are caught, drawn and quartered and then offered up for pig feed.
I second that!
“Anyone with an ounce of intelligence shouldve known the mans Facebook post was a joke.”
Not necessarily because there are people stupid enough to do it for real. How many of these thugs have posed with hundred-dollar bills fanned out, guns and drugs in pictures.
Nothing too out of the ordinary. I guess $60k was over the threshold where it too inviting.
Never advertised money, fake or real, to strangers.
Frankly, I’m not surprised it happens. When I see lottery winners go on TV cheering about millions of dollars, I just shake my head.
They don’t realize the kinds of people that are out there. All kinds. With lots of methods.
Oops. s/b
“Never advertise money, fake or real, to strangers.”
everything is being compiled and you can't hide from the govt, but why make it so easy to come after you?
how about people that send in pics of their little children on their birthdays to the tv stations....thousands of strangers learning your kids full name....not good...
Why the heck are we not using fake facebook accounts to honey pot thieves and murderers?
If it works for caching child predators, why not other criminals?
When a parent died several years ago, my sibling was advised not to publish the obituary for at least two weeks because that’s when the identity thieves strike.
