Dear Sidebar Moderator:
I realize technically Michelle Malkin maintains a blog so this article is technically in the correct forum, but I believe it should be moved to News/Activism because the points raised here are of critical importance for determining the “conservative-ness” of Trump’s candidacy.
Just my humble suggestion.
Thanks,
Where do you read that he built around her house?
Also, what are your thoughts about his opinion about the Kelo decision?
And you know all this because you were actually there and seen all this, like the rest of us weren’t or
your reading an article that cast a doubt in your mind and so therefore because it was written, it’s the truth....
Sounds like the type of people we are trying to get rid of in Washington D.C....
The more they try to trash Trump the more I like him.
If there is a lesson to learn it is the conservative media is bought and paid for just like the liberal media.
Trump has made this very apparent.
That’s all very well and good but you seem to be missing the point here: the reason she had to go to court in the first place was because Trump was using the CRDA in an attempt to take her property so he could develop it! She wouldn’t have had to go to court if the CRDA didn’t try to take her property.
I’ll ask you the same question I asked another poster: what do you think of Trump’s opinion of Kelo, quoted in the article but also posted in post #18? Do you think it’s compatible with true constitutionally conservative values?
Any blame for Trumps lead belongs to the GOP. They were given the senate based on the promises they made to get our votes. They got in and started acting like someone neutered them. I’m not saying I’m all for Trump but I am enjoying this because the GOP deserves a smack in the face. Trump is going to win on his stance about the border. Unless Michelle Malkin can get one of the other candidates to grow a pair and start talking about the border as strongly as Trump not even info like this is going to disparage him with voters.
We can disagree. ED is a useful tool, particularly when owners find themselves owning property in a rather depressed and downtrodden area. They certainly don’t mind being bought out, but others see it as a enrichment opportunity as they suddenly find themselves owners of white elephants. All they see is the $$$ and not the practicality.
There is a point wherein an ED project benefits far outway the individual owners property rights. That’s not to say it’s right to take it and it takes a gentle hand to set things right — not our governments policy in general.
Trump over the years has offered fair prices, he’s offered bloated prices, and he’s offered penthouses for life with Concierge services to some of the property holdouts he’s dealt with. Little items that don’t make it into a hit piece because they ruin the narrative. I’ve noticed Michelle Malkin does that alot, errors of omissions.
What you point out is wrong, is government wrong, not Trump wrong.
G*d found use for Saul of Tarsus, who’s to say he hasn’t found use for Donald Trump?
“Trump is going to win on his stance about the border.”
Perhaps healthcare as well. My husband watched Trump on Hannity last night and said Trump had some well-thought-out and logical ideas about Obamacare. Apparently, his statement was made so that even low-info voters could understand it and agree with it. (Of course, those people are watching American Idol and Kardashians, so...)
I need to go back and watch that. I slept through it as I often do because it’s past my bedtime. Haha.
When the hell has he EVER said that ? If I missed it, I apologize for this post.
Why do these stories always start with pap ?
After Kelo Versus New London he capitalized on the potentials it created. This is what he should be called on. Not inconsequentialities like crass jokes about entertainment skanks.
Trump has attempted to use the same tactics in Connecticut and has championed the reviled Kelo vs. City of New London Supreme Court ruling upholding expansive use of eminent domain. He told Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto that he agreed with the ruling 100 percent and defended the chilling power of government to kick people out of their homes and businesses based on arbitrary determinations....
Sorry guys, but IF TRUE, this ought to be a deal breaker for Trump.
Private property rights are akin to religious rights....a personal liberty that must not be violated.
Trump is a flawed character. But as long as he is dismantling the media/government complex, I will support him. Cruz is my preferred choice. He gets my vote in the primary next June.
No...it's more like good bye to Fhios Since Jun 28, 2015
I don’t think she should have been forced to sell either. But you gotta wonder at someone who’d want to live in the ‘new neighborhood’ like this.
“Sorry guys, but IF TRUE, this ought to be a deal breaker for Trump.”
And I remember when Haley Barbour was a revered soul here. He tried to do similar stuff, as governor, in MS. Fortunately Haley lost that battle too. Trump is far from alone in his support of Kelo. Far far, sadly.
I’m not missing the point at all. I’m just not so quick to go so rabidly Ape Sh!t on him about anything one can find. He is what he is and he is giving running fits to the MSM and RINOS and Democrats AND those running along with him who cannot stand on their own, can’t rise in the polls on their own, etc. without trashing him. And, to keep doing so just helps him save campaign money because he’s getting ALL the free air time.
I’m personally in it with Cruz and I’ll vote for him if I get a chance. I take my cues from him regarding Cruz. Some of these other candidates and pundits could do likewise if they were smart.
In the end, I really don’t care about Trump - I’m not planning to vote for him, but that doesn’t mean he should be trashed at every opportunity, either. I think that sort of thing should be reserved for Jeb Bush, myself.
Have a great day.
I'm of mixed feelings about the Kelo decision. In the Kelo case, vacant land is a poor excuse to take someone's home. But what if someone had held out when Baltimore wanted to built the Inner Harbor? The owners in Atlantic City had been offered fair values for their peoperties privately before the redevelopemnt authority resorted to eminent domain. I had a great aunt and uncle who owned a small hotel in AC and they sold out to a developer and retired to Palm Beach so I don't think they felt cheated.
Like any opinion, it is shaped by one or more personal experiences so when he did that interview who knows what he was thinking of?
