TRUMP’S FAST FLIP ON ABORTION

Bill Donohue comments on Donald Trump’s position on abortion:

Since 2011, Donald Trump has identified himself as pro-life. But in 1999, when he ran for president, he was an abortion-rights advocate, and even defended partial-birth abortion. So what changed him?

On October 24, 1999, Trump told “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert, “I’m very pro-choice.” When pressed whether he would oppose a ban on partial-birth abortion, he said, “I would—I am pro-choice in every respect, as far as it goes.” Yet less than three months later, Trump was on record saying he would support a ban on partial-birth abortion. He actually made the switch immediately following the show.

On January 16, 2000, Trump’s new book was published, The America We Deserve. He discussed why he flipped on partial-birth abortion. Here is what he said: “When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion if I were president, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted with two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would indeed support a ban.”

Someone in Trump’s campaign obviously pushed the alarm button after watching the interview, and then got to his publisher in time to reflect his new position. Until he was educated by two doctors—right after he walked off the set—he was apparently clueless about this “procedure.” He did not know, he says, that partial-birth abortion entails crushing the skull of a baby who is 80 percent born. What did he think it meant?

I’m not buying it. Even if I did, what does that make Trump? New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and New York City Mayor Ed Koch supported abortion rights, but they drew the line at partial-birth: they properly called it “infanticide.” They didn’t need doctors to tell them that this was a monstrous act.

Trump needs to explain his lightning fast flip flop, and why we should believe him now.

It is very profitable for the Don to be pro-life now. If he is elected, he will ensure that every action is profitable, especially for himself.

Trump needs to explain his lightning fast flip flop from... 15 years ago? If Donahue is a big Christian why wouldn’t he just be happy that a guy has been against partial birth abortion for over 15 years?

We need to change hearts and minds. And if we do. We’ll still criticize them for the rest of their lives. Pathetic hypocrites.

He explained it. He went looking for more information, found it, and it changed his mind. No further explanation due to a hostile interrogator

A president can’t change abortion law anyway. Only a congress and a court. Or the heart of a parent.

1. Abortion is the law of the land. The SCOTUS made it so in a decision called Roe v Wade. The Congress has never made any move to change this ruling. The President of the United States has no power to change the Supreme Court Decision.

2. Gay marriage is the law of the land. The SCOTUS made it so in a decision called Obergefel v Hodges. The Congress will make no move to change this ruling. The Presdient of the United States has no power to change the Supreme Court decision.

Sooooooooo we need to focus on the things the President can do something about like taxes, healthcare, trade, immigration. Trump wants to make a change and I want to help him do it. Trump also has a chance to actually win a general election.

I can believe that. When I first read about partial-birth abortion, I found it hard to believe. When I described the procedure to some who had never heard about it, they became angry with me and accused me of exaggerating.

Reagan went from pro-abort to pro-life before the 80 convention. He explained it forthrightly. He said that conservatives are pro life and that he would support conservatives. Prolife is the consistent position of conservatives, therefore he was henceforth pro-life. He followed through.

I can buy the fact Trump did not truly understand what partial-birth abortion was. I taught a college course in public speaking for several decades. When I was teaching students how to use visual aids I would use slides of renderings of what the procedure partial-birth abortion entailed.
It never failed. My college students truly had no idea of the barberry of partial-birth abortion until they saw these pictures.

The people who own the “new” media may not carry anymore news about Donald Trump.

What I find interesting is that Breitbart, I think it was, reported that the update of Trump’s Time To Get Tough was being released the day of the debate.

But no such release happened. It’s not listed as forthcoming on Amazon, and the publisher, Regnery, has had Trump’s author page offline all week.

My guess is that it had some position or positions that his campaign is now rethinking—and reprinting.

Trump has flipped on his support for Hillary, taxes, tariffs, and just about every issue. He’s no conservative.

We can change the law, we just have to actually win first and not get easy just because there has been a win. We also need to never give up.

What politician hasn’t “flipped” on a big issue? Maybe, just maybe, Donald has seen the light.

That was 15 years ago. Why is this important for this race?

Trump has said repeatedly that he is pro-life. In 2000 he is on record for ban That he would ban abortions. Why would he say that for 15 years if it's not true.

For something to change on abortion, Congress is going to have to grow a spine. Cruz can't do anything on abortion without Congress. Neither can Trump. If Congress sends Trump a bill restricting abortions, I believe Trump will sign it.

We've got economic problems that are huge. Cruz isn't prepared to deal with the economic problems. Cruz was handing Obama fast track authority for job killing so-called free trade agreements.

What changed? He decided in 2011 that he wanted to run as a Republican. Moral beliefs and taking a stand on them are less important than gaining more personal power to him.

Do y'all not realize that IT DOES NOT MATTER what the next President believes about abortion?

THE MURDERS WILL CONTINUE. The banksters and the political lapdogs want it that way. Once they are done murdering all the blacks, they can move on to the Christians, the Jews, gun owners, Tea Party types, etc.

Don't believe it?

Go back and read about The French Revolution.

We may see that kind of evil in our own time.

This country is soulless, and these politicians are just telling lies they never plan to do anything about.

Giuliani? Are you kidding me? Gun-grabber, socialist? Of course not. And regardless who the nominee is, America cannot now vote itself out of the mess we are in. Don’t you see? Those in power will not ever relinquish it unless forced. Who bells cat? Nobody, because nobody wants to go to jail for sedition.
