Man killed in police shooting had lengthy criminal past

The alleged gunman shot down by Albuquerque police officers Friday was out on bond at the time of the incident.

Rafael Molina Jr., 33, was a convicted drug dealer, drunk driver and someone who threatened people with weapons, according to court records.

Officers were chasing Molina after a 911 caller told police he had kidnapped a woman. The chase ended on Edith near Garfield, on Bonnie Green's mother's doorstep.

"By the time I actually got in this part of the room, they were telling him to get out of the car and put his hands up," Green said. "And as he was getting out of the car, all I heard was pow pow pow. By then I was ducking out of the way."

Police said another witness told them Molina raised his own gun before the shots were fired.

Investigators said they found a gun next to his body.

Police say Molina was shot at least once.

"It's a tragic situation, anytime someone loses their life," Chief Gorden Eden said. "One of the things you know and we all know is that when people comply with lawful commands given by the officer, there's always a good outcome."

According to court records, this wasn't Molina's first run in with the law.

He posted bond on May 13, three days after he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His convictions date back to 2001. They include DWI, drug trafficking, possession of heroin, larceny, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Regardless of his criminal record, he was loved by his family, and his grandmother said he loved his daughter. Many of his relatives waited for hours near the crime scene to find out what happened.

"You couldn't shoot him in the foot, so that he'd fall? No you had to kill him,” shouted his grandmother to police in Spanish.

“That's all they're doing, to all of the community. Kill us kill us, is all that they do."

On Saturday, Molina's family stopped by where he was shot, and left flowers and candles in his honor.

KOB talked to his relatives in an attempt to learn more about him besides his criminal record. The family member told KOB that right now, the family is not ready to talk, and would prefer to mourn his loss in peace.

DWI, drug trafficking, possession of heroin, larceny, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Obviously, a loving father.

“Man killed in police shooting had lengthy criminal past” should be a macro on any American newspaper’s typesetting keyboard. Claude Shannon would understand. The entropy in in that statement is about the same as in the letter “e”.

“The idea here is that the less likely an event is, the more information it provides when it occurs. “

Conversely, the more likely an event, the less information is contains.

Family was not ready to talk, but old granny was beating her gums. I honestly looked to see if this was satire between the chief moping around about it, and gramma’s advice on shooting practices.

Maybe he had a gun. Maybe the policeman had a spare. Here is where a body camera would be useful.

“Police said another witness told them Molina raised his own gun before the shots were fired.”...........

Good enough for me. That witness needs to go into hiding for a while for self preservation.

He pulled a gun which was found next to his cold, dead body. The Albuquerqwue news tries DESPERATELY to sanitize these things, glorify the killers, and disparage the cops

Looks who's talking......

Then, lady, get your butt in gear and tell YOUR *community* to stop killing Americans. If they wouldn't break the law, then they wouldn't be in danger of getting killed.

I wonder how many people died from drug overdoses from the drugs this guy sold them, and how many lives HE wrecked.
