Chipotle claims they have stopped serving food from genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
What are the health risks from eating genetically modified food? There arent any. Twenty-five years of scientific studies have shown no evidence of harm from the use of GM crops. A recent report from the European Union found that the main conclusion to be drawn from the efforts of more than 130 research projects, covering a period of more than 25 years of research and involving more than 500 independent research groups, is that biotechnology, and in particular GMOs, are not more risky to consume than conventional plant breeding technologies. These findings are backed by the American Medical Association, the US National Academy of Science, and the World Health Organizationalong with other respected scientific research based organizations worldwide. In 2003, the International Council for Science, a nongovernmental body representing more than 100 national science academics and dozens of international scientific unions, reviewed 50 independent authoritative studies. The GMOs Chipotle banned were shown to be safe to eat. In the intervening 12 years, GMOs have been planted on nearly 4 billion acres of land in more than two dozen countries, bringing the total acreage devoted to GMOs to 5 billion. And still no credible evidence of human health risks has emerged. (2)

Absence of proof is not proof of absence
No problem from my perspective. Whoever wants to eat it can eat it. Whoever doesn’t want to eat it shouldn’t have to.
Why is the Monsanto/FDA/Government triad so afraid to just label them as GMO or non-GMO and let consumers decide what they want to pay for...?
Seems like a great free-market solution.
I love GMO. I love MSG!
It sure looks like there is no proof out there.
Anti-GMO people are the same irrational ones who believe global warming and anti-vaccine idiocies.
There are so many a restaurant uses their delusions for marketing.
Exactly.
Nothing stops anyone from labeling their food non-GMO.
If it is not labelled non-GMO, assume it is GMO.

The problem is the food Chicken Littles have stopped GMO food from getting to places with huge deaths from starvation.
Better thousands should starve than let ignorant fools not have their way.
You don’t want to eat non-GMO food? Then don’t eat it.
I have never been to a Chipotle. Have I missed something?
>>Absence of proof is not proof of absence<<
That is a semantically null statement, as facile as it may seem.
Exactly.
And Chipotle is nothing special.
If the GM in the GMO is to make it grow faster or be more drought tolerant, then there's likely no effect on humans.
If, however, the GM is incorporating nicotinoids or other pesticides/herbicides into the plants then that might very well have negative side-effects on humans.
I smell a rat in these supposed conclusions ... that no amount of GM can kill.
Chipotle going Chapter 11 would be a sign that the average US consumer was wising up slightly.
>>I have never been to a Chipotle. Have I missed something?<<
Glorified Taco Bell.
Something happens to Mexican food when it crosses the border. It becomes awful.
Boy does it! Luckily, and unluckily, I live in a small city overrun with Mexicans. The upside is there is perfectly delicious, authentic Mexican food on almost every corner. Haven’t been in a chain in probably 30 years.

So far no such things have been found — do you have proof that such morbidities have been genetically introduced?
My wife is from Mexico — I get my Mexican food there.
The first thing Americans need to know about real Mexican food is you DON’T drown it in sauce. Instead, you marinade the meat well, char it nicely and serve it that way. The best way is to munch a Serrano or pop a Del Monte chile every 3rd bite or so.
The second thing: REAL LARD!
I have had wonderful Mexican food in Tucson, Albuquerque, and in a small town in Texas. But let me tell you, the Mexican food in Alabama is gross. We have tried a lot of Mexican in Alabama and are always hopeful that we will find something remotely good. So far, no such luck. We found decent Mexican in Virginia. Maybe we were deluding ourselves though. Hah.

You need to find a place where no one speaks English (Spanish, of course - I would avoid a Mexican restaurant where they all speak Chinese: which I have seen in L.A.).
OTOH, I have had Chinese food in Mexico and it was ghastly. I was spoiled in Monterey Park, CA — the best Dim Sum anywhere.
“The problem is the food Chicken Littles have stopped GMO food from getting to places with huge deaths from starvation.”
No problem at all. Food costs money. Let the market decide what kind of food it wants. I support your right to eat whatever you want.
Some countries have evicted Monsanto. It is their right to choose the kind of country they want to have. Others have become an offshoot of Monsanto - government agencies with revolving doors for Monsanto execs and vice versa. The worst form of crony capitalism. Ours is like that.
“Better thousands should starve than let ignorant fools not have their way.”
I disagree with you assumptions about GMO and the safety of the use of Roundup to treat these crops - and the destruction of the food supply through restrictions on seeds.
People do not starve from lack of GMO crops. They starve due to poor government.
Again, I support your right to express your opinions in the marketplace of ideas.
Label the crap and see who buys it.
