Facts mean nothing.

We've always been at war with Eastasia.

They were opposed just enough to have it removed from the Capitol roof.

I see your point. Likely they thought they would not have the votes to remove it fully and saw this as a compromise or a method to lower the visibility. That is a valid POV

My thought is that if it was as important to Pinkney then, as it has now become, then the vote may have been different and an abstention may have been more appropriate in 2000.

“I suspect that the Senator, as well as all the Leg, were smart enough to understand that, and that it would have “permanent placement”, and “that it would have the force of law [the last two subject to a 2/3 vote to change).”

I thought that was the case . . . just seeking confirmation.

“I thought that was the case . . . just seeking confirmation.”

To suggest otherwise just make one intellectually dishonest.

It’s pretty tiresome dealing with crackpot cr4p from the left; even more so from our brethren who ought to know better.

They obviously did not have the votes.

Even the original blogger admitted that it was a ‘compromise bill”. although that didn’t stop them from claiming [that] “Senator Pinckney SUPPORTED placing the Confederate flag at the very state-house location” while failing to mention what the compromise was.

The flag was always destined to be removed.

The big question is, when will it all end? When will the cultural cleansing end? Are all the historical statues and memories destined to be deemed racist? Will we keep any heritage at all?

I guess maybe I'm not clear about the point after all. Is anyone contending that the Senator consented to vote for the compromise through coercion or deceit and that consent through coercion or deceit is not consent at all?

More likely, the Senator voted for the compromise knowing the terms and conditions of the bill and believing he was receiving the benefit of the bargain for his constituency. After all, he was a STATE legislator. Only federal legislators vote for legislation they have never read.

Certainly hope not, it’s bogus.

If they note that FR is giving it credence, some will look like raving fools.

Clementa Pinckney was by all accounts a good and honorable man whose legacy of peaceful compromise did not deserve the divisive political rhetoric of a graceless president whose legacy has been one of self-serving demagoguery that continues to further diminish and weaken America.

Neither did the victims family’s expressions of forgiveness deserve a few buttholes coming to Charleston calling for a race war.
Good grief, even Sharpton told that idiot Shabazz to get out of Charleston.

I wonder how long this nation has to go, until the anger finally explodes.

Part of me thinks, never.

This is a nation of herbivores - and they will gravitate to the loudest bell they hear.
